Why don't you talk to your dealer rather than resurrecting a 9 year old thread?

My 4300 John Deere doesn't have a kill switch under the seat anymore. One day it came out of place and broke far from home so I spliced the wires together. That would be the first thing I did if I bought another tractor with HST....and I'll never buy another tractor with a clutch.

Ouch! Pitre, welcome to TBN. I'm guessing you didn't notice how old this thread was, but no harm. Dealer's parts dept is the way to go.

Given the courts and insurance. Jumpering out any "safety" equipment is not recommended.

Hi Pitre, and welcome. Are you sure you need a new switch? I ask because many time they just need some adjustment - may not be closing the switch all the way when weight on the seat.

Seems to be a small number of folks that get upset if someone resurrects an old thread. Then there's the small set of folks that get upset if someone starts a new thread where the subject has ever been discussed in the past - "do a search!"

What's a new member to do?

If you have a kubota and want to use the PTO when your off, like a chipper, how do you keep it from stalling?

Tilt the seat forward as you are getting up, and off the tractor...

I've killed the engine as many times as I remembered to do this...

NO......

Nope, no kill switch under the seat..

Yup and my Deere works pretty simple too for running the PTO off the tractor, tilt the seat forward and pull up on the switch. No other interlocks like the new ones have.

My big problem is a really need a new seat soon.

It's definitely falling apart after 15 years and even though I drilled and riveted new mounting brackets to the seat pan they just don't hold that tight after a while and so when the seat flexes a little when I move around a bit too much engine dies...if I don't move my position back quick! :D

Try a squeeze clamp on the kill switch. Put it on prior to engaging the pto.

correct, you have about a second before engine dies to tip the seat

My TYM233 has a seat interlock that requires weight to be on the seat when starting only. After running, you can get off and it will continue to run. Maybe it's not working right, but I don't think I could stand it cutting off everytime I come off the seat.

I wired mine on a switch. If I am mowing I turn it on. For any other work I turn it off. My tractor is a HST transmission, so I don't worry about a seat safety anyway.
