Nothing on the shim, not a picture or anything. My assumption is it was a single piece. I might use three spacers from the hardware store or head back to the machine shop to have them fab something up. As detailed as the install manual was I was surprised it had nothing but "buy shim no. xxxx" but I guess when new that wasn't a big deal. Probably a $5 part. I'll be interested to see if mine works out length wise into the bracket or if I'll need to built the homemade bracket up as well.

Is there any reason to add shims to both radius arms? I'm not even sure what they do, other than to appear to hold the front end on.

Left side only should be fine.

The only reason for the shim seams to keep from shattering the hip bracket in use based on the way ours came welded on.

Here are some scanned pages from the Ford Parts Book and the Assembly Manual. If you compare the two, it may explain the 1" difference you encountered. In the Parts Book, the front support bracket No. 291279 which says it fits the 2100, 3100, etc. tractors, is not "flat" like the same part no. shown in the Assembly document. That 291279 bracket is "flat," and the Assembly Manual says it fits the 2100, 3100, and the 2000 and 3000, and is the one I've made and the one you have. So that bracket is the correct one for our tractor. I guess the loader you have is an inch short.
If mine fits I'll take a measurement and we can compare notes.

The Parts Book front support bracket is not "flat" and appears to have an offset that might make up the 1" you needed. But these are artists renderings, not photos, in the parts book. But I'd bet a nickle what Ford did was to lengthen the early versions of the loader by an inch or so to make it fit a flat front bracket that didn't take so much work to make. It you look at all the front supports on that Page 24 they all seem to have an offset.

I'm trying to attach these as a PDF. If that doesn't work I will try to email them to you. Also, I included the Installation instructions referencing the shim. And I blew up the 19-382 Kit photo that shows all the parts, except the needed shim. View attachment 19_711.pdf

Here's a Copy of the Entire Assembly Manual for the Ford 19-711 Loader

I thought someone might need some information all in one spot. So here's the entire Assembly Manual which I found to be more useful than the Parts Manual which I also recently bought on line. Don't see why this shouldn't be "freeware" for those interested in these loaders. View attachment 20180503101203139.pdf

Thanks. It would have saved us a lot of stress.

Gale - looks like you had to pull the studs out of the engine block and replace them with bolts to use that 1/2 inch spacer? How tough was that? I can't imagine Ford originally intended the farmers to have to do that and the manual doesn't mention it. I didn't have time to get the hip bracket tightened on, but I did lay it up and I think with a 1/4" "shim" the radius arm will clear the hip bracket and there's enough spare thread to use the existing studs. I assume the problem is the radius arm moves up and can contact the hip bracket. Since the book calls it a "shim" not a spaced I'm hoping I can use the original studs and clear the hip bracket. Worth a try anyway.I'll post back when I get it figured out.

The internet is great. I was able to find, on Messicks site I think, that Part No. 292294 had been replaced byPart No. 313024, which is still available. It shows a shim that is .106 (another site shows it as .125) which is right at an 1/8" so there must have been just a wee bit of a clearance issue. This shim is used for some other purpose as well. But it makes sense, because its thin enough not to have to mess with the studs, etc.

I found this info for the shim, it specifically references "19-382" which is the loader mounting kit for the 3cyl. 2000/3000:

313024 SHIM,.106" Thk New.Holland 3100, 532, 4600SU, 531, 1881, NAA, NAB, 4000 - SERIES, 4131, 541, 4110, 4140, 711-SERIES, 4410, 1871, 335, 19-381, 19-382, 3400, 19-386, 601, 2000 - SERIES, 1811, 2031, 1821, 230A, 2110TR, 1841, 2310

Even with our .500" shim we had to take a die grinder to prior ownership making the hip mounting plate thicker due to welding on bracing after it broke in the past. Try jacking up under the front bolster so that neither front tire will touch the floor/ground when fully depressed with just your weight. Check clearance at extreme range of motion in each direction. Again that is awesome info should I totally lose my mind and mess with another 711 Ford loader now that ours on the 3000 and seems to be ready for the show the tomorrow and Saturday. :)

I am pleased with how the now straight and beefed up bucket turned out as well as the Ford 711 one arm loader friendly set of headlights.

There are very few good photos on the net of the loader and all the attachments but I think this thread has come close to putting it all in one place. You could take some photos of your good work and post them. Great light fix. I'm afraid of the dark so lights not needed on mine.

Thanks. Today when I get moving and my wits about me I will try to remember to get more photos while at the antique tractor show today and tomorrow. Your input from the factory installation manual is an awesome asset in keeping the Ford 711 One Arm Front End Loaders around for the next generation. This tractor is for my 20 year old daughter and she is going to be at the show for some of the day.

It is my dream to find a dry barn containing all of the 711 attachments made by Ford. :)

On the lights the shop owner said we could not send a one eyed tractor to a tractor show. My solution was my first choice for a work light replacement because it was like the broken one that came on it but he said they came with one with and off and on switch at the light which I remember from our new 1962 801 Ford and I found one which we used instead. I just picked up the second one when the head light solution evolved and I did the headlight paint job using a $5 can of old Ford Blue from TSC.

If we pull off the loader I am thinking we will do it at the top pin and just leave the base on the tractor since all of my arthritis limitations. While these lights are not a good match for the era (I am storing the OEM lights that are in great shape) at least now we will not have a missing headlight.

Well my bones and brain are starting to work better after my version of Bullet Proof Coffee and breakfast so I will get to the tractor and wash it up and drive it the 5 miles to the fair grounds. This is our first ever event of this type but I think it is like of a low key fund raiser for the local FFA chapters.

Sounds like a good day. I've seen photos of the tractor with the left light mounted on the top of the hood on that side. And I think Soundguy attached one to the loader arm. At least I saw a picture.

Tell 'em at the tractor show the other arm fell off and you haven't gotten around to putting it back on.

I'm going to try getting mine off the trailer and on the tractor this weekend. According to the ad brochure I'm supposed to be able to drive right into it in minutes. I will be doing the literal "shade tree" hoist technique, however.
