I have looked at the NH web site for specs on 16LA v 17LA loader and how much they stick out beyond the front wheels and I can't find the specs. If you put two TC40 next to each other, one with 17LA which is required with supersteer, and the other with 16LA non ss, how much more does the 17LA stick out from the front of the tractor than the 16LA? Can anyone help with link to specs, or do you know? Thanks.

Slippy I can't give you the difference in a measurement but I haven't heard any 17LA owners complaining about the increased visibility of their buckets. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Here is the view over the hood on the TC-40D with a 17LA loader with the bucket on the ground.

The 17LA really does add a bit of extra visibility.

PineRidge: Thanks for the picture. I have looked at your whole series numerous times and they have been helpful. I was actually concerned about how much the 17LA loader sticks out to make it longer and less manuverable.

I asked the dealer about front weights for the TC40DAss. He told me that the weights and bracket and front grill guard are available, but that the bracket has to be taken off to mount the loader. In your pic is appears that you have the weight bracket on, is that correct? Have you taken your loader off and used front weights?

Slippy have personally never felt the need for front weights. Even when dragging the BH around the lot so we have no front weight rack only the NH grill guard.

With the work that we use our NH for we have 950 pounds of cast iron for the backside, for counterbalance when using the bucket grapple or the pallet forks.

But if we needed more weight on the front for a specific job guess I could grab a full bucket of dirt for counterbalance. Have found this Boomer to be a pretty stable machine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I will be using it on some trails through the woods pulling a drag or box blade. Can't fit loader in some places, so wanted some extra weight up front for those situations. Think I'll need it?

The 17LA sticks out about 4" more than the 16LA. That dimension is given as "reach" in the Operator's Manual. The 16LA has a reach of 69" in front of the tractor's front axle and the 17LA has a reach of 73".

You can put up to 200 lb of weight on the front of the tractor without the optional weight bracket. Only the optional weight bracket has to be removed when you put on the loader. With the optional bracket, you can put a total of 500 lb of weight on the front. So if 200 lb is enough, you can do that and not have to remove it before installing the loader.

All of this information is out of the tractor and loader Operator's Manuals. If your dealer balks, just tell him to check the tractor manuals for this info.

Would dropping just the bucket be enough? If so you could get the quick attach system.

Thanks for the replys. 4" is not that much more, and taking the bucket off is also a good idea provided not too light in the front end for box blade work. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Slippy,
One other thing the supersteer axle is going to do for you weightwise is that since the axle is placed further to the front of the machine, you will have the added weight of the axles and tires further ahead of the unit which will make it more stable and give you some of that weight you are looking for.

Jerry, I don't think the SuperSteer axle is any further forward than the standard 4WD axle, but it sure weighs more because of all the extra hydraulic and mechanical components. So your point is a good one that SuperSteer does have more weight on the front.
