I have recently started using my FEL more often as we start construction on our house. I have a 16LA FEL with a Markham toothbar on the front. I find myself constantly taking the toothbar off/on and I never seem to have it on when I need it or vice versa.

I have the QA bucket and I have been toying with the idea of getting an extra (smaller - 5 ft) bucket for use in scooping and dragging. I would then leave the toothbar on the larger bucket. I would just change buckets depending on the type of work I am doing.

I am wondering:
- Does anyone else use this approach of having an extra bucket?
- Where could I find a good used QA bucket?

Thoughts or comments??

Steve -

I didn't even think of Godley's. I have heard about their auctions, but I have never attended one of them. I need to go to Charlotte tomorrow. I might get their address and go by for a visit. Thank you.

I don't currently have an extra bucket, but I am in the exact same situation as you described, and have been looking for a used materials bucket for a month or so now. I think you're right on, and you would get a lot of use out of the two buckets. It's a pain to take the toothbar off and re-install it.

Not on the tractor but that is pretty common on the skid steers.

I kind of do it backwards from you though, although I understand you already have the tooth bar, my smaller buckets have the teeth, my larger buckets are smooth. Usually when trying to dig, I want a smaller bucket on.

Godley's web site has not been updated to show the date of their next consignment sale in Charlotte. They do have some new buckets for sale according to their web site. Upcoming Sales

Another possibility is the Agricultural Review published by the NC Department of Ag. They have classified buy/sell ads for equipment.

Finally, I used to see regular postings on Craig's list of a person/company selling buckets. The problem is that I can't remember whether it was the list for Hickory, Charlotte, or Greenville, SC.

Let me know if you find any great deals.:)

I have an extra bucket from a 7308. I believe it's a 60" bucket with a cutter bar (no teeth). I'm not sure if it would fit a 16LA, but PM me if you are interested.

I have a 5' smooth cutting edge bucket and a 6' toothbar bucket. I wish it were just the opposite, but I had the 6' toothbar already when I bought the 5' bucket.

I have an 84" general purpose bucket and a 78" toothed bucket that has been beefed up and has chain hooks. These have worked very well for me, I have had these since day one and can't imagine only having one type of bucket to do all types of work or having to install & remove a tooth bar all the time.
