Does anyone recognize the emblem on this hubcap

I was out working in an area that I replanted 2 years ago and found this hubcap (at least it looks like a hubcap). Not being a car guy I have no idea and neither do the folks I have shown it to. Suspect it is an emblem that was abandoned quite some time ago.
Anyone recognize this or have an idea? It might be upside down I could not tell up from down on the emblem.

I don't think it's upside down...the star would convince me the hub cap is correctly oriented in your picture.

I'm going to guess it's from the 1950's or early 1960's and is either German or Eastern European in origin.

Yep, this is what I found as well. Looks like it's been around since at least 1929 in one form or another. Very cool find!

Try "50-53 olds hubcap" and one site shows 4 pictures. You have to try different years and different wording-like vintage Olds hubcaps
I found it by looking under "old hubcap Pictures"

Well.... not knowing who the manufacturer was, I assumed it was either a Russian or Eastern Bloc car company are started with some searches like: "Eastern Bloc Car Emblems", etc.... That didn't get me very far, so I used what I thought was on the hubcap.... "automobile emblem star acorns" This is using the "Images" option on google.... That search term got me a bunch of images, but one of them had that emblem. It was listed as an Oldsmobile. So then I searched on "Oldsmobile emblems" and found a few sites with pictures of the emblems they've used since they started producing cars....tada! I've found the best way to search with google is to not over think what you're looking for.... a few basic words will get you a ton of stuff.

How do you google a picture

Google Images

You can paste an image URL. or you can also drag and drop.. click on the camera icon. It doesnt always work. you get a lot of random stuff, but it does work sometimes. One thing that can help is to eliminate any background, use an photo editor to cut away anything that is not relative to the object you are trying to find.
