Does anyone make a Belly Blade for CUT

Wouldn't the short wheel separation on these types of tractors make a belly blade hard to use and ineffective?

I have one on my Farmall Cub that mouns front or middle front is handy but it wouldnt grade as good the mid mount position does alot better I put in several driveways and dressed up alot of my jobsites with that till i got the 3000 Yanmar. Youd probably have to make one Id say a 3rd of an 8 or 10 inch pipe woud make a nice moldboard for a midmount blade.

Larry,
What brand was the blade?

From the Farmall Cub-54A leveling/grader blade manual....."The Cub-54A blade in the rear(mid) position is used for controlled grading of all types. This stability and control over the depth of cut is due to the fact that the front wheels are always on the old grade level and the rear wheels follow on the new level; thus the blade is suspended evenly between the front and rear wheels."

For the price of a new implement, you could probably pick a piece of old iron(Cub) ready made for grading. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I love it when someone brings up the Cub..... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Chuck

OK
I am looking at the March/April issue of Implement and Tractor magazine. Page 16 is an add with picture of a TC45D model tractor and "Grouser" bellly blade. Article reads from 35 to 55 HP tractors, compatible with all loader arms and systems, quick attach, blade widths of 6-7 and 8 feet. Contact Grouser Products 800-747-6182 or 701-282-7710 or e-mail jason@grouser.com or www.grouser.com
Don't know if I'm allowed to print the names and all, guess we'll find out if this post gets deleted or not,.. If you are familiar with the "Huber" brand which is a popular small grader that town highway dept use.,, this particular belly blade is almost a spitting image of the Huber system..

Thanks for the information. The belly blade must be a new item, because it is not on Grouser's web site. I will keep checking, to see if they put it up.

I second LarryRB's mention of Grouser's Belly Blade. It is really a slick concept. It is built for larger, Class III compact tractors (35-50 PTO hp.)
I was told that it will be in the $7,000 price range. But, I don't think that the Belly Blade is on the market yet.

You're correct that a long wheelbase and a mid blade are ideal.

However, a mid-mounted blade is better than front or rear mounted even on short wheelbase.

The closer to the midpoint of the front and rear axles you are, the more level a blade will grade. A front or rear blade that extends too far out follows the terrain so closely they actually make the bumps worse.
