I have heard that ranchers in Texas carry a small 410 shotgun attached to the saddle on their horse to kill rattlesnakes with. The small 410 shotgun is called a rattlesnake shotgun. If there is such a small 410 shotgun made, does anyone on the TBN know who makes a shotgun like this, and also where is the best place to buy a shotgun like this one at?

Don't know what you mean by 'small'.
Thompson Center makes a pistol that will shoot .410 shells.
I have a small .410 double barrel that would carry well on a horse in a scabbard.
Need more info, unless others know specifically what a 'rattlesnake' shotgun might be.

Do they mean a "Snake charmer?" Little single shot .410 break open shotgun, doesnt weigh much. and they are cheap.

Snake Charmer is the correct name. My Dad was a heavy equipment operator for many years and he had two of them. Very handy for the occasional PO'd snake. You actually hold it much like a pistol and just sight down the barrel. With practice you can even reload semi-rapidly.

Apparently you can even get them at Wal-Mart.

I've got one of those in 12 gauge, made by H&R I believe.
I usually carry a Rossi coach gun on my tractor.

Instead of shooting the snake, why don't you just turn the tractor towards it and run it over?

Creative thinking there Moss. Spare the gunpowder, use diesel power instead.

I know I try this every time I see one, but they are usually too fast, or off to the side. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

You can also get "snake shot" for your pistol or .22 that shoots little pellets like a shot gun. Should be good enough for snakes.
Nevertheless, I've got a scabbard mounted on my tractor (and ATV) to carry a side by side Browning 20 ga or whatever. Here's a picture of it mounted on the inside of the left loader frame.
