Does anyone else ride bicycles?

I've got a nice Japanese hybrid bike I paid a good chunk of change for 15 years ago. I never learned how to use the gears, it's so much more complicated than the bikes I had growing up. I won't sell it because one day I'll figure it out, or that's what I tell myself.

I used to love biking. When I was in South Korea I bought a Trek to get to work with, and it was a lot of fun while I had it.

I was storing it in my barracks room, and when the First Sergeant saw this he insisted I keep it outside. The very first night I had it secured to the bike rack it was stolen.

Never mind I carried the thing to my room and stored it on a rug, the bike belonged outside.

I never got it back and the MP's were no help. I didn't know I had to register it with the Provost Marshal Office, and that was one disheartening learning experience.

When you look close she is beginning to show her age. I am in the process of getting some chrome work done and then paying a ridiculous amount to get it repainted and all decals replaced. It is pretty much all Campy except for the brakes and handle bar stem.

If I were looking for a road bike, It would be a Schwinn Continental. Just because I had one in High School

Tubular forks, sew ups, down tube shifters, Lycet seat,

But I live a mile from pavement, flats suck!

I used to ride on the road alot, and weekend group rides. Had several near misses even on a car driving on the bike path. Two friends got hit, one seriously. I gave up the road now ride indoors on Rouvy. I can stay in shape without the risk of being hit and killed.

I'm holding out before having the indoor bike as my primary.

I came to biking early and late. At school i had a paper run and swapped that to become a Telegram Boy. (Telegrams : remember them ?) After 2 years rain hail and shine every day swapped that to go inside and sort mail.
Some years after retiring and at 80, in 2017 I bought a Bulls, Electric, full suspension, mountain bike. Ive been riding twice a week since then and put about 16k kilometers on it. Plus probably another 2k on hire bikes. (on 2 other days of the week I go walking)

Have you ever fallen off a set of rollers? ;-)

I have, It's a real riot! Going no where at speed.

I use the rollers all winter, out in the shop, Lathe on one side, work bench on the other!

Way better than a stationary, You need to pay attention! FOCUS is why we ride!

Yes! I started mountain biking at 62 and am addicted. I have an Ibis Ripmo AF and just picked up this Ibis Oso. I also have a Salsa Bucksaw I ride in the winter.

I run the CAAD 10 on an Ascent fluid trainer (and I have still almost fallen off a couple of times...). In a pinch, I can run the Raleigh on it too.

It has been a good unit, but it's really hard on the rear tires. Regular road tires delaminate in short order on these things. I know they make dedicated tires to use on trainers, but I like to use it on the road when I can.

I will say that, while I'd rather be riding outside, it is really nice for cold/hot/rainy/snowy days. It is also nice to be able to just walk downstairs, turn on the computer/tv, get on the bike and ride, instead of having to put the bike in the car and drive to the ride location.
