I have a 2007 BX2350. Motor is 54 ci. Dealer installed a 1200 watt block heater on it. I asked him about it being so big and he said they installed that size on all Kubota's. I would think it would have a meltdown with that big a heater. Will only plug in for hour or so as needed, not plug in all the time. What size are your heaters? hjt

Sounds about right to me. I see alot of 1500 watt heaters in these parts. I would plug it in a couple hours before starting the tractor, or, if you use it at the same time every day..... put it on a heavy duty timer.

I'm guessing your heater is the external type that works by being in contact with the outside of the engine. They are less efficient so need to be higher output to get the job done.

I have a block heater in my 167 cu in engine - it's the kind that is imersed in the coolant - mounted in one of the freeze-plug holes in the engine block. It's 400-watts and does a good job in 1-2 hours.

BTW, it's plugged into an outlet with a cordless remote - so I turn it on from inside the nice warm house a couple hours before I venture out. Getting soft

Holly cow, that sounds huge.

The freeze plug type from Kubota is like 600 watts.

If it is external, I don't know where you'd find room for such a large heater on that little block.

It may be perfectly fine. Curious what they installed though.

According to this link for example a 1200watt pad would be for an oil pan size of 26-50 Quarts !!

Where did you find one of those?

I thought it was a little large myself. I assume from looks that it is a frost plug type. Dealer says they all use same thing. hjt

600 watts or so does just fine for my truck.:D

Chances are you have been given some wrong information.

Being a cheap skate .... I used an end of the season clearance 1500 cube heater for $8 and place it on the floor under the motor (throw a blanket or tarp over the front end for better heat conveyance). I know it is not as slick as an official Kubota heater, but it does the job for next to nothing.

The cube heater works great. I had an air cooled Belarus for 20 years and that's exactly how I heated it (after 2 oil pan heaters failed after short lives). It worked great - I actually hung it on the side of the motor by the injection pump - never failed.

You don't worry about snow melting off the engine and landing on that heater?

Do an eBay search for "remote control outlet" - several to choose from. Mine is like eBay item 310010521357 - works fine at a range of 75-100 feet. I plug in a small light too so I can tell if it's on. Take care, Dick B

crazyal-

Just don't put it under things that drip. If you cannot avoid this, use a metal plate (pie plate or other) to act as a umbrella.

The ones I have are 1500 watt and are around $15 during the season and drop to under $10 at the end of winter.

I use a timer to turn mine on when I need it. You don't need to run it 24/7 half hour before you use it is plenty. Unless it goes sub zero.

I'd do a little more research and try to find out what type of heater it is, as others mentioned (inside or outside the block). Either way, 1200 watts seems huge for such a small motor.

My block heater for my 7.3L (444 cu in) is 1100 watts, and heats everything up enough for an easy start in 2-3 hours. I'm quite certain the little block heater on my 24hp sub compact was no where near 1100 watts, and would heat that little block up in 15-30 minutes.

On a 2350 with a 1200 watt heater, I would run no more than 30 min.

I dunno. It gets cold here. Sometimes -20. After an hour my 2230 is warm on the top of the engine! You can actually hear the liquid inside churning. I think my 'Bota likes it more than me when its that cold!:D :D

No cake. No song.

Been thinking. That's bad! With a 1200 watt block heater you can make breakfast on the hood, eat and then your ready to go till lunch.:D :D :D

Mine is the lower radiator hose type and it's 750 watt. 30 minutes is ample time for it to warm the engine and it starts fine.
