My neighbor has a 2010 2500 Dodge with integrated brake controller and 7 pin trailer plug. There is no auxiliary power or break away 12v power at in the plug, everything else works. There are 2 30A fuses under the hood J01 and J02 if I remember correctly. Main question, are Dodge 7 pins fully wired or do wires need to be pulled? My GMC's always came factory hot. He bought a power jack for the trailer and the directions mentioned that some Fords don't have this power in the plug so use the parking light slot..Dodge wasn't mentioned.

Some trucks left the wires spooled up underneath, even with a 9 inch lift kit, we didn't see anything.

Anyone know for sure if these are factory wired for dedicated 12v at the 7pin before we tear into this? Thanks.

My GM has the factory integated brake controller. It came pre wired to the plug but was not connected under the hood in the fuse block. Just had to connect the wire and plug in a fuse. A friends F150 was set up the same. Dodge is probably similar.
Check the fuse block under the hood. Trailer power fuse location should be noted which fuse it is. Then check around or under the fuse box for that wire that needs to be hooked up.

My 2011 1500 with the factory brake controller has 12v at the 7 pin connector but I haven't checked to see if it is 100% hot or just hot when the key is on. Seem like I remember that some where key on hot only.

The GM's leave a wire loose under the hood that must be connected and a Maxi Fuse that needs installed. Not a big deal and the good dealers do it before delivery.

The Fords need a relay installed. It comes with the truck and is usually in the center console or glove box.

The Dodges are a crap shoot. It can vary year to year. Best thing to do is go to R&P Carriages website and check out the HELP section.

Ok, I'm a bonehead ...The 30a's looked good. After a continuity test, one was bad...Now we have live 12v on the 1 O'clock slot..The center pin is still dead, ignition or not. Must be a relay or something.

The center pin is tied to reverse in my 98. Dodge may have kept it the same, put the truck in reverse with ignition on and see if it becomes hot.

It may, I'll check that...Thanks. Looks like that is a user choice slot. None of our trailers have reverse lights, so no point in digging for it I guess.

Thanks for all of the help everyone.

On everything I use with 7 slot connector the center pin is wired up for reverse/backup lights..I added in xtra rear facing lights to my 18ft trailer so I could see backing up in the dark.

That's the standard. We use them on Disc Brakes to control the reverse solenoid lockout.
