Dodge-Nissan collaborating on Pickups?

I just read an interesting article stating that Chrysler was negotiating with Nissan for joint ventures in pickups. In the agreement, Nissan would build Frontier based compacts for Dodge and Dodge would build Ram based full size trucks for Nissan. Wonder if a merger might be in the works between the two a little further down the line?

I saw the same thing and that also Nissan will be building economy cars for Dodge. I hate it. I was seriously considering the Titan or Tundra for my next truck but will stay away from the Titan if thats the case. I went down the Dodge road once and will not go back

I would strongly recomend the Tundra, unless you constantly tow heavy trailers, in which case you should be looking at a diesel;but you already know that. I would match the 5.7L, 6speed Tundra against any 1/2 ton truck out there in towing and fuel milage(empty or towing). I routinely average 18 MPG empty running the back roads around here and better than 19 empty on the interstate at 70+ MPH. Towing an 8,000+ load I average 12 to 12.5 MPG; the reason I traded my '05 150 SuperCrew

My next door neighbor works for chrysler as a product design eng.at the proving grounds located here in Michigan and told me this is very true.coobie

Never had or wanted a Dodge of any kind until the current generation half ton came out in 02. I drove one, liked it and bought it. Traded for a 04 3/4 ton/Hemi and like the half ton 02 it provided me more satisfaction than any of the Fords or GM's I had owned previously. Traded the 04 for a 05 2500 with the Cummins. After about 150,000 miles in the three trucks, I'm still looking for a shred of evidence that they might be inferior to Ford or GM in some way. Havn't found it yet though. I've never owned the same vehicle 3 times in row until now. I've had many Fords and GM's in the 40 years I've been buying vehicles and have had to accept some sort of compromise in reliability power or satisfaction, until now. If I traded tomorrow it would be for another Dodge. It's a good truck these days and I'm sure with Nissan badging, most buyers won't care about the difference. The Titan is a nice truck but it don't sell. It just makes good business sense to share names. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of this in the future years.

I'm on my second Dodge and they are by far the best trucks I've owned. My current one averages 20-21mpg at 70mph. My previous one had 213,000 miles on it when I sold it and was still going strong! If the second one holds up that well, I'll be buying a third one when it's time.

It's still going to be a Dodge or Nissan. Dodge is ok I guess but not the most comfortable riding truck. Nissan has had a lot of problems over the years with their Titans.

I have the 07 Tundra Crewmax. I drove every 1/2 ton truck on the market to be fair. The Tundra has more standard features than anyone. 5.7 ltr, SIX speed tranny. Average 21 mpg highway. Better brakes, better towing capacity. And when it comes to resale it's hard to beat a Toyota.

And before someone starts screaming it ain't American. The Tundra is built in Indiana and Texas.

Chrysler once had an agreement with Mitsubishi to build the little Dodge D-50 Pickups / a mighty fine truck.
I ought to know since I've had 3 of them.
Still have 2 of them.
They were the most underrated import pick up out there?
Everything went great until the romance between Chrysler and Mitsubishi went sour.

Makes mw wonder if a love affair would ever last between Chrysler and Nissan?.

It ain't American. Now my Dodge, that's American. It's made right here in (just a minute let me check) WHAT? MEXICO?
