Do your own Fluids and Filters on a BX

How do I cleans the hyd screen , remove the left rear tire? Will I loose fluid? How to clean ? Do I need anything (cleaner spray or gasket ?)
Sorry if this is a repeat question, just thought I ask to find out the proper way on my BX, I will do this when I change to winter tires.

Thanks to all!!!

I don't know the BX specifically but yes, you lose fluid and that's why you do it on the 50 hour maintenance. Might need a replacement "O" ring or gasket in some cases. Someone else will answer.

It usually just has some larger pieces of metal on it, just wash it out with diesel or something similar.

Don't have to remove tire but it does make it easier. Back several pages we went thru how to lose little to near no fluid. A rubber plug can be inserted while cleaning the screen with gas or diesel fuel or air from compressor. Some found nothing on the screen and some found noticeable amounts of metal filings which shows the screen is doing it's job with nothing to worry about either way. If I remember correctly it was tightened by a gorilla so some effort needed to remove it. I finally started using air and battery drill impact sockets to aid in the removal of Kubota gorilla installed nuts/bolts.

Yep, easy to do... have a proper sized tapered plug ready and remove the left wheel to make it easy. I had a fair amount of shavings on my filter. Curious what the filter looks like when I do my 400hr... I'm at 325 but thinking of doing it early. Might be a good winter project when I'm having tractor withdrawals.

When I did my first strainer cleaning at 50 hours, I also had quite a bit of metal, the second time, almost none.

Use a vacuum cleaner on the fill port...NO leaking or fumbling with a plug....

I didn't try the vac suggestion and I only fumbled a bit and didn't lose much but the anxiety was there. I think the second time will be a piece of cake. I saved the tapered cork I used and it sits proudly in my tool box with a big BX sharpie mark on the top so I don't question it.

I had a rubber plug.....some where.. :) but guess I'll have to find another one. I stuck my finger in the hole the first time and cleaned the screen with one hand while laying down the first time I did one. It didn't have hardly anything on it so I guess it was OK.

How about just cleaning the screen with a fluid change?

At one time, on BX's they said change the fluid and clean the screen at 50 hours. I'm not sure but on newer machines, I think they say just clean the screen at 50 hours.
