Do you have wheel weights?

What's keeping the JD in the bucket? Doctored photo, or something we can't see?

I have about 900 lb. of fluid in my rear tires and put another 1500 lb. on my 3ph when making heavy lifts. Did that yesterday for lifting a 1200 lb. pallet of seed and fertilizer out of the back of my truck on uneven ground.
JD has a front bumper that I accidently found out that it wedged under lip of bucket when it was on back property pretending to be a dead deer.... NO, no photo shops here yes it was staged, but it's real....

No to wheel weights. I have 775 pounds of RimGuard in each rear tire. Just can not get enough weight with wheel weights.

Also have a rear blade - 1000+ pounds.

I do not have weight in the rear wheels and 3-point to leverage weight off the front axle. It's all there to keep my "rear" on the ground when I lift with the grapple & FEL.
Yep as has been pointed out in some previous and fairly intense discussions, Wheel weights or rim guard do not take weight off of the front axle.

Heavy 3 point items especially long implements with much of the weight near the rear do though. Some CUT's can use all of the front axle stress relief for front axle hub bearings that they can get.

My newest tractor did not have the weight of my old 584 IH,,
SO,,,

It got 6 large wheel weights,, rear tire fluid,, and a DIY weight box
The weight box was built out of some of the weights from a John Deere track loader counterweight

I only used 1,000 pounds of the weights,,

The tractor stays rear anchored,, and the box is a great place to carry a chain,,

Maxing out a little tractor without breaking things is equal parts art, instinct, & gamble.

After adding weights, traction, and stability to our little tractor - and using it that way for years - I finally realized that the next larger size tractor did all the same things but without the stress.

I have wheel weights, and will likely have my tires loaded when I replace them. Before putting them on it was like being on a carnival ride. Even discing on a slight sidehill got dicey a couple of times when the uphill tire came off the ground. I had my 700 lb winch on the back and was stacking lumber from my pickup onto the forks when the tractor slowly keeled over. Luckily it stopped when they hit the tailgate.

I have had the rear tires filled on my Kubota L5740 since new in 2007, but even then is was tippy on uneven ground with a heavy load in the bucket. So a couple of years ago I added wheel weights as well, and WOW, what a difference. It's Soooo much more stable doing loader work, especially on uneven ground. And general operation mowing etc on uneven ground (we have a lot of uneven ground here in Vermont) it is much more stable. Another related improvement was replacing the front 6 ply ag tires with 8 ply. Now they can actually carry the load of a full bucket.

A couple of comments, I have 17.5l-24 rears loaded with rim guard and wheel weights. I change my tires over, R4's to Turf, etc. ever year. When only having the Rim Guard the tires stood vertical for moving around when changing over. With the wheel weight's they want to lay over at about a 15 deg angle. I little more unnerving.
Back to the subject. Loaded tires are considered un-sprung weight, they don't add any force/load to the tractor and or tractor frame, maybe some dynamic loading when starting and stopping, etc., Any weight added to the three point adds load to the tractor frame. You have a moment arm when accounting for the three point distance from the axle c/l. Again dynamic loading will travel back thru the tractor frame with additional force. Later

Wheel weights are good for plowing, snow blowing, pushing or pulling, but weight on the back of the tractor is better for loader work. A load in the bucket will use the front axle as a fulcrum and take weight off the rear of the tractor. Weights and loaded tires will counter this, but not as good as weight out back. Weight out back will use the rear axle as a fulcrum and help ease the strain on the front axle.

If your plowing snow, weights and loaded tires are your best bet. There is no weight out front when plowing or snow blowing because the implement is on the ground. In this case weight out back can affect your steering and make it a bit light. Wheel weights and loaded tires plant there weight right over the rear axle not affecting steering.

Obviously, the bigger the tractor, the less you will notice.

Dave
Absolutely right.
Until the bell housing becomes the fulcrum and the tractor brakes apart.

I do NOT like filled tires, over the years it has almost always cost more then iron weights. That said my little Kioti 2620 with the R14 tires does have rimguard in the tires.
I much prefer iron as I have on the Branson 8050, 600 pounds on each rear tire,

I have considered getting a couple more but it gets by well with what it has.

Using the term "Sprung Weight" on a tractor is pushing the use of words.

The only "springs" on a tractor are the tires, so Certainly wheel weights are SPRUNG!.

Filled tires on the other hand gets complicated. As both tractor and tire are always in some sort of dynamic relationship when moving....

OH! The Fordson has a pair of weights on each side. Heavy suckers!
The Bolens has a single weight each side.

Nothing on the B7200, but I made up a rack to hold suitcase weights.

I'm looking for wheel weights for the B2601.

I can drill wheels if needed.
