Do you have the dealer clean your chainsaw?

I suppose a good portion of the population doesn't wash their own car either. ;)
While I can't imagine paying someone to clean my saw (or anything for that matter), how one spends their money is fine with me.
Of course that is the beauty of a free society and capitalism. I can see running your car through a car wash occasionally especially if you don't have the facilities at home... I do myself to save some time/convenience. But if you are DIYing around your property or others, seems like the simple maintaining of your tools is paramount if you own them. Major repairs, maintenance... I get it... have it done... especially if tools and time are not on your side.

I bill a lot more for my time than any shop I know that sharpens or cleans chain saws. I’m just too cheap to pay most of the time.

I work with a guy from another culture that is based on class systems. It seems he feels it is very important to display, maintain/ elevate his "upper class" stature by hiring other "lower class" (menial labor) people to do what the rest of us would consider trivial things.
His idea of success, and self-esteem, is based on being in a position to be above manual labor and getting other people to serve him and do tasks, whereas "my culture" might take pride in learning how to do a new task and having a sense of accomplishment in doing hard labor.

I think its hard for one "school of thought" to understand the other.

......that's probably why we've nicknamed him "Little B*tch"

 at that last sentence.

Had a friend pay me to clean and go through a saw I sold him like 7-8 years ago last week or so.

I was like has it been in a flood or what with all the fine dirt on it.

I can see farming out sharpening... but the cleaning of your saw?

I don;t farm out either one, but I can sharpen a chain a whole lot faster than I can clean a saw. (I also sharpen frequently, and clean not frequently enough.)
