Mine is up 24/7 and lit from dusk to dawn.

Same here, American Flag & Montana State Flag with solar lights to light both of em at dusk till dawn.

They fly 24/7/200 + - days (till winter shows up.

Yes. We put ours out on appropriate days. I'd like to have a lit pole so I could keep it flying 24/7.

Yep, been meaning to put one up but need to run power first. Maybe next year. Too much to do at this time of year.

I never knew that lighting the flag made flying it at night OK. What if the power goes out?

Sad when people are patriotic enough to fly a flag but not take it down when tattered!

That flag lighted at night "rule", might not be true in Canada.

4 years of grade school it was my responsibility to mind the flags... we had three poles... USA, California and School Colors...

Principal asked for volunteer and since we had some basic flag etiquette in Scouts the 3 of us did it 5th through 8th grade...

Poles still there but no longer used

If the power goes out, and the lights go off, and you aren't there to do anything about it, no one is gonna fault you and you shouldn't feel bad about it.

It's all about the intent of the action. You try as best you can to treat the flag with the respect it deserves, and that's the best you can do. If you know the lights are out, you investigate and attempt to resolve. If it can't be resolved in a timely manner, then you take the flag in for the night. Simple as that. ;)

I put mine out on the holidays when I'm around. I used to put it out on weekends when I'm around to tend it, but got out of the habit. I hate seeing unlit flags, yet it seems like every town now puts a bunch out on utility polesfor Memorial Day, and never take them down until winter. I've been known to stop and pick them up when the wind has knocked them out of their holders, but don't carry a ladder so can't reset them. It drives me nuts to see them used as clothing, but I guess that's the people's right. (?)

Just remember that if it doesn't meet these specs, it's not a U.S. flag. ;) It's just a piece of fabric.
