Brand new St225 75r15 E trailer tires (towmaster). Should I balance these? I never have before, but hear of more and more people doing it. I know the drums are not balanced, but will it make that much difference?

Never heard of anyone balancing trailer tires before. That doesn't mean people don't. It wouldn't hurt anything, even if it didn't help. :2cents:

Some do and some don't. I've never heard that it made a differance. One of our TBN trailer gurus, "Diamond Pilot", certainly recommends it, as I recall. But maybe if one does a lot of higher speed highway driving it does make a differance. And maybe it makes a differance if it is single or double axle. ..... another 0.02

I always have. I can't say with certainty that it helps but I think it does. I get good tire life with no knotting. I figure why not, vibration sucks.

I've always balanced my trailer tires.

If it's the tire I'm thinking of, you have one of the better ones today. Given the amount of problems in general with trailer tires recently, I'd do it just to eliminate one source of wear.

Saw a quote from a Carlisle spokesman recently "30% of the ST sidewall strength is gone after 3 years".

I don't balance trailer tires. And I have trailers of all kinds: semi, utility, livestock, and RV.

But, it's probably a good idea, and as DT86 said, it won't hurt anything.

TowMaster is one of the very best trailer tires available. I like 'em.

I've had my share of trailer tire problems too.

Don't have that problem anymore because I REFUSE to buy any more trailer tires from Goodyear/Carlisle!!! (yes, Carlisle is a Goodyear brand)

Why would you not balance them?

No I never balance them, But When I put another set or even change only one tire, I try to watch the tires as going down the road for any obvious bounce, dribble or vibration, if all looks/feels normal then no worry,
