do newer vemeer disk mowers last as long as a krone mower

I would like too know how long the newer vermeer disk mowers last? Compared to a krone.

Well I would say Krone is well known as being solid and long lasting, Vermeer makes good farm/construction equipment, too. I haven’t owned either brand (although a Krone rake is on my horizon). I have a Pottinger disc mower and it’s been outstanding.
Havent heard of a lot of Krone problems.….

I've owned both brands of disc cutters. My guess is Krone cutter bar is more prone to cracks causing oil to leak than Vermeer which appears to have thicker cutter bar & utilizes grease in lieu of oil. Amount of grease in each module of Vermeer is more difficult to monitor than Krone cutter bar. I think Vermeer segmented(modular) type cutter bar would be easier to repair if repair was ever required. I prefer Krone's shaft drive with slip clutch over Vermeer's belt drive. I've cut a hay field with areas of Love grass that would cause the Vermeer cutter belts to jump off & Krone will keep cutting.

Both units are fine machines. The Vermeer company wise is privately held. The industrial division of Vermeer is over 80% of the company. They actually sold off Lely Hay to AGCO. Yes AGCO owns & manufacturers the Vermeer disc mower transmission. The question is Vermeer AG products being manufactured by Vermeer are reducing. Kubota wants a 5' wide baler made here in the USA. Connect the dots it could happen.
