I was bush hogging pasture/weeds this morning and came to an area with a deep rut so I went parallel to the rut up hill and then let the tractor drift back down hill with the clutch engaged. I went up and back probably half a dozen times for about 20 to 30 feet. When I finished, I couldn't get the tractor to go back in gear. It cranks fine, PTO works fine, it feels like it shifts into gear fine but it won't go forward or backward. I'm thinking maybe there's a problem with the clutch? Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance. jhap

You have three controls for the transmission: gear shift, range shift and reverser. Are they all engaged?
How did you let the tractor drift back down hill with the clutch engaged?

I think when he said "with the clutch engaged" doesn't mean the pressure plate engaged, I think he means his foot was "engaged" by pushing in the clutch to disengage the pressure plate to allow the tractor to roll backwards downhill, then the actually engaged the clutched to travel up the hill multiple times.. just a matter of choice of words.

That makes sense. Thanks for the insight.
