I have the opportunity to buy a consignment 2005 DK55 with ~140 hrs., Woods QC loader and 9000 backhoe for $27K. It's bigger than I was looking for (40-45 HP). I could only come up with $25K, but that offer was refused. The question is....is it worth the extra financial stretch at that price (I'd be financing $22k @4.65 % net)? Or would it be wiser to purchase a new less-espensive 40-45 hp TLB (with R-1s instead) for more money but at a lower interest rate? Thanks for the help.

I have a 2006 DK 45S rops with a Kioti KL451 self leveling loader.
Tractor has loaded (rimguard) R 4 tires
Has Aprox 180 hours
Remainder of factory warranty
I will put a brand new Woods 90X on it.
All for your $25K

If this doesn't work for you I think I would be looking at a smaller one because the price really jumps.
And the low interest rates will help out also.

I would go with the 45 Rick is offering, if you don't need the extra 10 hp.
On tlb's you seldom need the HP, just the hydraulics.
The loader lift is virtually identical on the 45 and 55
Same backhoe-2k cheaper.
It would be an easy decision for me. :D

Beside that I REALLY like the 45S especially with R-4's

I would have to go with Rick's deal as well . . . based on your sitution. I have a DK45SE and would love to have larger tractor w/ cab as we move into more ag related practices. But that said, and as BTI said, I can't see you needing the addition HP or you would have of stated that up front. I moved 8 1500-1700lbs round bales with my DK last night and the only problem is that I lacked the rear weight bias. Hydraulics and horsepower were NOT and issue.

Thanks for the help. I talked to Rick earlier, and he was a great help too. As my friend says, it's no wonder he sells alot of tractors....he tries!! ;)

As some backround, my wife and I bought a 400 acre farm two years ago. I lease it to my neighbor for his dairy operation, who runs some big 4x4s to deal with the nasty clay and speed up the job. I help out, and will have to do so more since his dad has health problems. His dad's a tough old coot, but he is 86 after all!! Simply put, his success is my success, and I admire him and his profession greatly!!

I maintain the roads on both of our properties (~800 acres), maintain logging trails, mow pasture that our horses don't chew, rake, ted and shuttle hay, equipment & implements. Snowplowing is the big winter sport here, and I also take care of our neighbors. I'm also building our log house, and am almost finished with it and the grounds. Aside from the foundation and raised septic (425yds), I continue to do all with my overworked Jinma 284. I don't care what anyone says...that $5500 was the best investment I ever made! I was never at a loss for horsepower, just weight and hydraulics...oh...and a backhoe. I also realized suddenly, that I'm at a loss for safety, as machines have their limits and I reached it.

I figured a 40-45 hp Kioti TLB, with their impressive mass and hydraulic power, would do the trick for both tip-toeing around the house, and then allow me to brushog faster, remove those ninja boulders, install the many culverts needed for the road and trail crossings of the 4 streams and springs, grade the roads and trails (clay + slopes = ruts) and re-establish the drainage in the fields. After I saw the DK55, I though maybe...just maybe, I could pinch hit with the baling and shuttle some round bales to his barns. I guess either the 45 or 55 will do everything adequately, but neither is a farm unit. I know I can't get it all, but I'll try excrutiatingly hard to!

At this point, I'm still debating between the two. It's gonna be tougher than I thought. It's probably because I was raised by a psychologist mom, and I'm a professional Analyst. Feel free to help some more....I'm actually sane.... :D

Bought my 45 from R Wallace back in 06 and so far, with 330 hrs., it has been pretty much trouble free. The tractor he is offering is about as new as you can get without being brand new.

Why don't you come to Ricks Picnic on the 7th... try the machines out then! I am sure we will have you driving away with tractor in tow! :D
How is that for help?? :)

I think you should at least come down and have a look on the 7th. I'd also say with all you described you need a BIGGER tractor!!! But I DO understand, you have to go with what the wallet allows. I think a 45hp will do most of what you want. It may not be the BEST tool for all scenarios but it will do most of what you listed. Come on down on the 7th.

I'm not an analyst but as a CPA I also have a habit of over analyzing most things (wife gets mad when I ask her to "tie-out" the bank statements or "let me see the invoice before you vouch for payment").. To me, 45 HP is a lot of HP for a diesel tractor. MY dozer is at 30 HP and will move almost anything. Another thing you must always consider is breakage, when one of these machines breaks it can be financially painful. I think the 2006 has the 4 year warranty?? If so, that is a huge selling point. Nothing worse than purchasing a nice used machine for good money and then needing to immediately dump another $5K into it. If the machine will pick up the heaviest thing you are likely to run into, then I would think the 45 would be good to go.
