The lever that controls constant speed will not lower idol. Don't like killing engine with high rpm. How to adjust the lever to lower rpm.The lever is very stiff and can't understand how to adjust.

To adjust the "stiffness" of the hand throttle, you may be able to reach up under the dash and loosen the bolt that holds the lever to the mount. This bolt has "friction" washers. Only loosen it enough to gain smooth operation but it has to have enough friction to hold the throttle. As for idle RPM, adjust the cable at the pump.

Thanks for the reply. Where is the pump and cable located to adjust the rpm. Not use to the Kioti yet. To kill the engine on my John Degree 1050 the hand throttle stops the engine when fully released. Again thanks for the info.

Look at the side of the engine and have someone work the throttle..
ITS OBVIOUS where it is and how to lower the speed..
The throttle hits a stop screw.. if it isn't touching the screw, adjust the cable clamp [loosen] until it hits the screw.
IF its still to hi, adjust the screw until your happy.. but the lever should be touching the screw..

Idle for my Kioti is 1,000rpm. Is your higher than this? What does your owners manual say?

My DK45 also idles at 1000 RPM
Now I have to go plow snow, got a foot or more last night.

1000rpm seems pretty high for idle but those mini-diesels will bend/break a crank if allowed to lope. There must be a spec in the manual. RTFM!

This is an old thread but no one ever replied to the OP. There is no idle speed in the owner's manual or repair manual for Kioti tractors. The mechanical pumps were set at the factory and then the low and high idle screws were wire tied and the seals added so the owner could not change the settings.

Is there a general consensus on the idle RPM for these small mechanical turbo engines?

My DK45 idles at 1,000 RPM, has since new. The lever on the pump does travel to the idle stop screw. I have never thought to much about it. I don't actually idle much, and when I do, I tend to run it up around 1,200+ (Keeps the A/C working better - important in Texas:cool2:). I also don't see any problem in shutting a diesel off at high RPM, you are shutting off the fuel supply,,,what's it gonna do???

I think 1000 RPM is what I need to achieve. Mine is only idling at 600 RPMs. I searched the internet and there were 4 distinct videos on Youtube, two DK55s and two DK551s. These were dealer tractors and they shot the videos as a sales tool. The two DK55s idled at 1000 RPMs and the two DK551s idled at 1100 RPM. All four were different locations. When you look in the repair manual or the owner's manuals, the idle RPM is never specified. The only reference is "at idle."
