I completed my 200 hour service and have really learned a lot about this tractor.

However, I encountered a few minor issues greasing the tractor.

The Service Manual says "Apply until grease leaks out from a gap other than grease nipple."

On the front axle pivot (both front and Rear) I could only get about 10 pumps of grease before the pressure built up. I was applying something comparable to 60 ft/lbs on the grease pump handle and never saw grease come out anywhere. I did see a small amount of grease come back out of the zerk past the check ball on the front zerk.

On the Front axle bevel grease gear case zerks I pumped about 20 times each side and never saw any grease come out.

What am I missing? Should I see the grease being forced out of the joints somewhere?

Honestly, sometimes you see a few tractors get only minimal grease at the factory, and if a dealer makes a delivery without checking, you get an under greased tractor.

Then when you do your first tractor service that requires greasing, it really takes alot of grease. The procedure is exactly what you said, always continue greasing until you see it pushing through a joint or seal. Don't be shy about using grease, and it may take alot of pumps. Sometimes grease has hardened and will plug a joint or seal.

I still have a pump grease gun, but I hear that some of the battery operated cordless grease guns are a joy to use, and will put more grease where its needed. And they will aggressively push out any hard grease plugs, to insure proper lubrication. However, they can be expensive.

I ran out of grease - I'll pick up some more tomorrow and give it a second try.

Thanks for the help. This is the first tractor I have bought and only the second I have ever driven. I know very little about tractors. Doing the service today easily doubled my knowledge.

Motorcycles don't have grease zerks, so I don't see many of them.

Yes, just try to get as much grease as you can into the critical lubrication areas, and most especially include your loader. The more experienced tractor owners just seem to make it a weekly habit, and not wait for the long service intervals.
