There is 1 review of the 45 in the review section under other tractors.
Also I did a search ,1 year,using DK45 and got some hits.

I don't own one, but I looked at it seriously. The most useful option you can get on the tractor (and the DK50) is the 1590 loader - it has a self-leveling bucket. I wish I had it especially when doing pallet fork work. It doesnt cost that much more than the standard loader.

I've had my DK45 for almost a year now. Bought it used with a backhoe and FEL. I really like the Tractor and Backhoe. I have the standard FEL and if I had been buying new, I would have a different FEL. The 1590 is worth considering. I also like the specs on the BushHog midmount. I believe it's the M246. The tractor is a fine piece of machinery and I would buy it again in a heart beat! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Ted DK-45

Hi There-
I'm most definately a proud owner of a Kioti DK 45. I searched high and low, reviewing Kubota, NH, John Deere and Mahindra, grey market Yanmars and Chinese Tractors. After taking a look in person and test driving several, I chose the DK 45 over the Mahindra 4110, partly because of the few extra horsepower and mostly because of the dealer (more about that later).

I've had my DK 45 since July the 3rd and have loved every minute of it. I've used it to pull hay rakes, hay trailers, do bush hogging, box blade/scraper blade work, loader work, dug post holes, scraped snow, etc., etc. It has started up everytime, from extreme heat (over 100 in the summer and down to below 0 just a few weeks ago). I've given it it's first servicing (oil change, fuel and air filter(s) changed, hydraulic filter/oil change). Everything was easy to get to and exchange - just needed a funny shaped funnel to pour the hydraulic oil into the tranny port. In short, I love my DK 45 and wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy another one or recommend to anyone. In fact, I hope to in about two to four years have enough pennies rolled together to get a DK 65 with a cab (or whatever Kioti tractor is the highest available horsepower) for our serious haying tractor (to replace our Ford 5000).

Aside from the quality of the tractor, a huge factor in my determination to purchase a Kioti was my opinion of my dealer. I bought my tractor from James Little of Little Tractor in Metropolis, IL (about an hour away from where I live). My wife and I went to the dealership just to look around one day and James went over all of the different models, from the smallest to the largest, let me drive around a DK 50 with a cab and loader, and set me up with all the literature I could tote. I mulled it over and decided to sell my Belarus and get the Kioti. James also did one of my favorite sales gimmicks: he gave me his best rock-bottom price up front and said he couldn't drop another dime (and I believed him, because I searched the internet and called a couple of other dealers and never found a better price). James did have two DK 45s in stock, but sold both before I got my Belarus sold. I called him and told him I was ready to buy and James moved heaven and earth and got a DK 45, delivered from North or South Carolina (where ever it is the Kioti's come into the states at) to his shop, assembled and delivered to my house in two days, just so I would have it in time for the 4th of July weekend. That type of effort seems exceptional nowadays, I think.

But the story doesn't end there. I bought my tractor without a front end loader, because I had a '64 John Deere 2010 Tractor/Loader/Backhoe. However, after having such a nice tractor, fiddlin' with the old backhoe just wasn't that much fun. I contacted James and he let me use the backhoe as a trade-in for a Rhino 2409 loader (which I think is the same as a Kioti 249 loader). I had a friend with a lowboy pick up the Kioti and Backhoe to haul to Metropolis (although James offered to do the pick-ups, but I hated to put him out for two trips) on a Monday. The tractor came back to me on Wednesday with the loader attached and ready to run - a really good turn-around considered that James was receiving two truckloads of equipment on Monday and Tuesday. While the tractor was at James' place, he corrected the only two issues that had come up - one front wheel was bent and the fuel gauge was not working correctly. Both items were fixed at no charge.

In closing, I would say that the DK 45 is a great tractor for the price; in fact, it is a great tractor at any price - easy to operate, easy to service. Similarly, Little Tractor is an excellent dealership - I wish he sold dishwashers, cars, deodorant, anything, I would buy it from James. I think it's rare to get a dealer that good anymore. I know that James sells tractors from his website and delivers nationwide, so he's an option no matter where you are (unless maybe you're oversees). I would recommend Kioti tractors and Little Tractor to anyone.

Sorry for the long post, but when I get talking about my Kioti tractor and dealer, I just can't shut up.

Good luck with your tractor search. Take it easy.

I have a DK45 too. I've only got 20 hours on the Hobbs, but it worked great with my brush hog to clear the fields before it snowed and now with snow, it is still working great to clear the driveway. I have a Rhino 2409 FEL, 7' Landpride finish mower and a 5' brush hog.

For those folks in colder contry that NE - PA, it takes 30 sec to warm up the glow plugs on a 5 deg F day and about a minute for the engine to warm up to the "normal" diesel humm.

The only mod I made was to fill my R4 tires with windshield fluid (adds ~ 800 lbs to rear). This made the ride fell smoother and with chains the traction was much improved.

Cheers,
Greg.

I also have the DK45 - that’s my review on the 45 on this board. I now have 107 hrs on the tractor and still think it is a great tractor. I have used it with a snow blower, brush hog, I clean out the horse pens, cut and baled 20 acres of alfalfa, run a big chipper, plowed and harrowed 5 acres, etc - it does it all. I have the standard FEL (the 249) and it has worked well for me for cleaning horse stalls, some digging and loading dirt into my truck. The only problem so far was the seat; it started to come apart almost immediately. The dealer gave me an option of having it repaired at their cost at my choice of shop or replacement. I opted for replacement and the new seat has had no problems. I have owned older Ford, Massey and International tractors feel the quality of the Kioti is as least as good as any of those.

I use an old NewHolland square baler. I have 20 acres in alfalfa for the horses. I average 50-55lb bales (easier for the wife to manage when feeding). I would think that the DK45 a little small for large bales.

Hey there WSchubert-
So you do actually bale your hay with the DK 45. Your kind of baling is exactly the kind of baling we do (except we don't have any nice alfalfa - just fescue, timothy, clover and whatever else springs up, you know). Do you have any problems using the DK 45 for this. I've used a Ford 5000, but that is the smallest that I have baled with. The guy who actually does most of our baling (about 6,000 bales a year for us and 6,000 for him - total of 12,000 in the summer) usually uses an older IH 585 (I think) but when it had to be overhauled a few summers ago he hooked up his IH 300 (or was it a 350 - anyway, I think it was the slightly newer equivalent of an IH M tractor) with a hand-clutch and went to baling. I think the M-300/350 only had about 35-40 hp, so I thought the DK 45 could do it but I haven't tried it yet.

Good information to know. Thanks for sharing.

Take it easy

I used to bale with an IH 574, a bit more hp, but it has a gas engine and two wheel drive. The DK45 seems to do a much better job. The combination of higher torque at lower rpm and the 4wd makes a big difference, esp on the one steeper hill I have in the field.

I have alfalfa now, but need to change it over to grass. The alfalfa is too hot for the horses. I plowed 1/3 of the field under this fall and will plant that in some type of grass this spring. I'll do the rest when I come up with a good grass combination.
