Greetings folks,

I'm doing my front axle service and pulled the three drain plugs. The left and center drains flow freely. The right drain is just dripping. When I probe the holes with a small wire, can easily get into the left and center drain, but not so with the right drain. Called my dealer and he confirmed my thoughts - just let it drain for a few hours until it stops dripping and refill.

This appears to be a manufacturing defect as my is newish (110 hours). It is still under warranty, but I'm not inclined to have anyone open up the axle to repair this annoying issue.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

I have heard several folks with this same problem, including me. It seems to be an assembly defect with a part installed incorrectly. Apparently it causes no harm, but for the slow drip of the fluid. I just let it drip out and went on.

How many hours ya got on it now that you are "retired"?

Rick, I've only got about 110 hours on the tractor. Spending a bunch of time on other projects since retirement and trying to not break my already worn-out body! That said, now I've got both 2wd and 4wd working, I'll be using it a bunch more!

I put in a few hours of seat time yesterday sucking up that beautiful sunshine & high 60's putting in 6x6 posts for a automatic gate & 12" round telephone poles for a pasture gate. Used up 20 bags of quickcrete.....c'mon SPRING!

i got mine to drain fast by inserting airline in other open port and pressing the valve........ a bit messy, but dooable. i limited it to 35psi though

also..make sure its warm fluid before draining.

We have seen this before. Quite sure the defect is that the snap ring that is at the end of the axle is turned incorrectly and blocks the oil from coming out of the drain hole quickly. We have move the snap ring before and helped with this issue.

I ended up letting it drain for 24 hours (no more dripping) and refilled with fresh lube. The stuff that came out was a bit dark. Will let it settle and see what resides on the bottom of the jugs just for fun.

KingsEquip - how do you move the snap ring? I might do it if I get really, really bored next time I change this lube.

Tractor kicked butt dragging and moving brush with the pallet forks yesterday! Put about 3 hours on it in the afternoon..well, the kids did the tractoring while I ran the chainsaw. This machine makes work fun!

To be honest, I have never done it. I will ask a few of the mechanics and try to get back to you.
