I have been having a problem shuttling from reverse to forward on the move I get the grind. I have to come to a complete stop to shift correctly. Forward to reverse works fine. I have adjusted the clutch free play with no change. Any ideas.?

Never seen this problem yet, but the only thing I can think of would be maybe the shuttle shift needing some adjustment. I’m not quite sure of the adjustment procedure on the DK55. I would call the dealer you got it from and let him know what’s going on. They should get you all fixed up.

I put a call in to the Dealer he is a little stuck on this also. He has not looked at it yet. Is there a way on the DK series in general that you know of to make an adjustment on the shuttle

I'm trying to understand this correctly.

While backing up, you press the clutch in, but do not touch the brake, and while still "coasting" backwards you try to put it in forward?? It grinds when you do it this way, but does not grind when you do it the other way,,,,, going forward, press the clutch, but not the brake, and while "coasting" put it in reverse??

I was under the impression that you always had to stop while going from forward to reverse,, or reverse to forward. I always do mine that way.

There seems to be some confusion on this issue. The dealer thought that a stop is required also. Here is the quote from the Kioti sight on this issue.

"12x12 Synchronized Transmission The fully synchronized shuttle and main transmission allows smooth operation by depressing the clutch but without coming to a complete stop."

This sure makes it apear as though no stop is needed. I think this quote is on the DK65 unit also.

You have it right. That is the whole point of a shuttle shift: changing directions without having to come to a dead stop. Some are "clutchless", like New Holland's ESS on the 2120 or the GST tranny on the Kubotas (actually electronics release and engage the clutch).

The Kiotis I test drove didnt require a full stop. It may be that an adjustment is necessary.

JSDK55,

On your transmission you can shift up and down while moving.

Your shuttle lever is different,, you have to come to a stop.

Generally when I am mowing, I am in 1st gear in the tranny, but high range on my sub-tranny. I leave those two levers in those positions so the only other lever I use is the shuttle between forward and reverse.

The specs say otherwise. I could see if they just stated the main transmision and not the shuttle but they did include the shuttle in the statement. This is confusing though. I have seen others say they can shuttle without a stop on DK tractors also

I can't on my DK35.I have to stop to go from forward to reverse or reverse to forward. You can shift the main gears on the move but not the shuttle.
