A replacement engine is still cheaper than a new box store ZT mower. If the rest of the machine is in good condition, I would go the new motor route.

Buy new. If the property is not bumpy get a Bad boy from Tractor supply. If you need suspension then it'll be Toro with Myride or a Ferris with full suspension. I have a Simplicity Citation XT 61" deck and the full suspension. It can't be beat IMO with full throttle runs across my bumpy yard. I cut around 4 acres and it take about 3 hours with bathroom breaks lol.

Also the new Stihl ZT mowers have full suspension. They are a rebadged Ferris.
