We went to Disney last March for the first time..We stayed "on-campus" which does have some advantages to be sure..We also got the meal plan which actually worked out very well for us..I wasn't thrilled with the All-Star resort, more like a dorm. Wasn't really a problem except if the weather would have turned, I don't know what we'd have done in that phone booth...I do remember that a 16oz Coors Light was $6.25 at the hotel, and I didn't care after walking around for 12 hours
The on-campus transportation is very good...It does back up at night though..Tolerable though.
We had a disability pass for my daughter(a Godsend), so I don't know how the other pass systems work...
Epcot, Universal, Downtown Disney, (the wildlife thing, don't remember the name) and the Magic Kingdom are just incredible to see..I was always looking around to see how they pull off what they do..I still don't know.
The weather was perfect in March, not too hot and maybe a sweatshirt at night...All and all a memorable trip.
Edit: One thing we decided is that we weren't going to follow the "must do" lists...We got some suggestions from some Disney regulars and took a few notes, but we just decided to experience it and just walk around adn do what we could...No pressure and no frustration that way...I needed neither when we went, we just wanted to relax and enjoy ourselves while we were there...If you try to do 50% of the must-sees on your first trip, you'll probably end up a sweaty and miserable...Just take it in the first time and do what you reasonably can.
