I want to start off by saying this is a great forum. I have learned a LOT already about this tractor-owning business by reading your posts and I look forward to learning a lot more.

I have a brand new L3400 with a loader/bh75 backhoe. I am ordering aftermarket bush hog and box blade from a buddy. Before he delivers them I need to remove the bh75 and install the 3 pt. hitch.

I need to know if the mounting pins on the hoe should come out easily or if they have to be tapped out with a punch and hammer. I tried removing it yesterday and only got to the point where I lifted the rear tractor tires a little with the boom but could not get the pins to budge using just my hands. Thanks for your help I'm sure I'll have tons of more questions in the near future as I rack up the hours.

One more thing: Please let me know the best way to tear this thing up. I mean the tractor, loader, 'hoe, attachments, anything. I'm sure I'll find a way to do it but want to avoid as many problems as possible, so if you could just give me some things to definately avoid I would appreciate it.

1st drop the bucket and arm down on ground with stablisers down.
put a little pressure on all and pins will slide right out. No hammer or anything needed. you have to get just right amount pressure, to much or to little , pins will not come free. if tires off ground way too much pressure. then when out, drop arm till top two holes where pins where slides forward ..
then raise stablisers so pins on bottom out subframe. Then pull tractor out a little forward. Block hoe and disconect hoses. Turn off flow to rear hydralics too.
should take 10 mins if everything goes good. hoses was hardest thing my first time, i did not know it was just a quick hard pull to disconect hoses from coupler.

Yes the pins will slide out without beating them out just as Mazurrj said. Just be sure to turn tractor off then work all controls to relieve pressure so when you put it back on you will not have any problems plugging it back on.

I would just add that the pins may still seem "stuck" but if you try various combinations of raising and lowering the main boom and also "playing with" the stabilizers, you will get to a point where they will come out with virtually no pressure.

After you have successfully done this, you will be amazed by two things:

1- How easy the pins come out when they are not pinched
2- How easy it is to pinch the pins to where they won't move!

The first time I took my BH90 off the left pin came out with no effort BUT... it took me nearly an hour to get the right pin unstuck. When I did get it out is very very dry with some surface rust (from the BH frame) and an odd wear pattern that indicated that the bores are not perfectly aligned:(

I cleaned out the bores and lubed the pin with "micro-mist". The left one is still much easier than the right one. But I can tweak the boom just right and get it out by hand.

BTW I find it easier to hit the "no load" sweet spot if I keep a constant twist on the pin (using the keeper as a handle) while adjusting the boom up and down very very slowly. When I get to "no load" the pin turns very easily and I can pull it right out.

FWIW the way I got the stubborn pin out the first time was with a 2x4 cut diagonally to make a long thin wedge which I held against the right rear tire. Then I used the bow in the blade end of a small crow bar to press against the middle of the pin. As the pin moved a little I'd just lower the wedge to take up that space.
