I have a 9' disc mower for hay cutting and it calls for EP 320 gear lube in the disc assembly. Anyone know where this lubricant is available. I can find it in 55 gallon drums but I do not need 50 years worth....
Have you tried your local OEM Equipment dealer? AMSOIL has a 250 ( I don't see anything heavier) and it is fully synthetic and available in quarts. Here's a link if that's an option for you. Free shipping promotion this month too. SEVERE GEAR(R) SAE 25? SRT - AMSOIL You could also call tech support ( a real live person) at (715) 399-TECH (8324) for their opinion if this lube is suitable.
Dutchy
I prefer to use what the manufacturer specs.
Yep, I agree. However, if you check the specs for the above AMSOIL gear lube both the 190 and 250 exceed the specs for 320. The 190 is the most similar though. Contact them and see what they say. Gear Lube - AMSOIL Dutchy
You never stated the brand of disc machine but, I use 80-90 GL5 in my NH disc bine and have for years. NH wants you to use Ambra but I use Shell gear oil. Buy it in 5's as I have other gearboxes on the farm. Change it ever 2 years.
When I contacted the dealer they just said they drain the EP320 and fill it with regular 90 wt gear lube. I prefer to use what the manufacturer specs. No response to a message left with the manufacturer sadly. I know EP320 is out there but finding it in 5 gallon pails is my issue.
