Subaru-Robin is a nice engine.

I have one of those Champion generators and it rocks! I can give the starter rope a half-pull and it starts right up. Its runs exceptionally well. Is easy on gas. Everything about it is well made. Has a fuel strainer in the opening for the gas tank to filter the gas when you pour it in. Has a fuel gauge with level indicator. Provides both 220 and 110 power. Has breakers and resets. Really a nice generator.

Sorry to hear about your problems but your experience is the exception and not the norm. My dad bought one of these too and also has had no problems with it.

hate to bresk the news to you all here, but i was looking at 3 different models of Honda generators at the local tool supply store...and guess what. All 3 had "MADE IN CHINA" stamped on the frame.

so what gives

oh, another funny thing that happened to me over 16 years ago. I saw an ad in local pennysaver in California for ONAN generator, near new. This is a jobsite generator sitting in an enclosure. Piped to run on propane . Original sales price was $2,500 but for sale as non working for $600. Fires right up but messed up output on power. Only few hours on meter.

I bought it and took it home. Only thing wrong with it was it was field wired for 3 phase. After i did my magic to the unit, it purred and provided nice clean 240 volt power. I still have this unit attached to my house. Still runs great after 16 years. I only do annual oil change (1 quart) and keep a battery tender and magnetic sump heater on it.

Always fires right up and runs strong. Something has to be said about good american machinery.

Everyone around here has well water and also have generators. Before we bought our generator we talked to our neighbors and found out what brand that they recommended. And they also told us what brands not to buy.

So, with my 2 defective generators, that means they are at a 50% failure rate between us...:)

Ha! You have a point!

I had mine hooked up to a well pump for watering my vineyard and garden. Worked good all summer.

I also bought a couple of those cheap chinese 2-cycle generators that Harbor Freight carries. I paid, I think, $75 each. Came in really handy when I was working in the vineyard and needed power and was moving around a lot. It was easier to move the generator than to move a long power cord. They also worked pretty well. Just had good luck, I guess.

I definately decided a 500 watt power inverter has several uses as well. Charging drill/ driver battery's, powering bright work lights off 120 volts is way better than any 12 volt work light, camping, anything smaller!!

No noise, no fuel waisted! The power draw off a car battery for a few hours is quite minimal.

Camping is a big one where I don't like to use a generator due to the noise level. I like the quiet power inverter if I need it in the middle of the night or powering my automotive type lanterns in the pitch dark night does not require much power at all

Looking at the manual on my two generators and one says run every three weeks and one every two weeks. If you go six months and have fuel problems I don't think you should blame the generator or the fuel supplier. I run mine every two weeks with an electric heater plugged into it. This test the generator head and helps dry it out. I then turn off the electric heater after 20 minutes of running. I then turn off the fuel and let it run out. I have a champion 2kw and it does fine. It is an inverter version and will run 9 hours on a gallon of fuel. That is why I got. It probably is low quality, but after two years of light use (maybe 20 hours) it is still working. I use Stabil too. Generators mostly sit a lot and take a lot of fuel care as a result. Sorry for the lecture, but I see too many failures from lack of simple maintenance.

i used to run my old coleman 2,000 watt generator about once every 1-2 years......when it was needed. Use only non ethanol fuel. Ive had that generator for 23 years. And still use it.

running something every few weeks would drive me crazy
