!,000 yards is more material than you think.

If your ground conditions are solid enough, hire a large loader (3yd+ Bucket) and have him move and rough spread it. You can work alongside him with the BB smoothing out and compacting the lifts if your intent is to build on it.

A good loader and operator can move a lot of material with that travel distance. Too long for a dozer and too short for a truck.

Been there, done that, many times.
IMHO.

That was probably around 520 yds you moved. (34X46X9)/27

I don't think of a box blade as a very efficient tool to transport dirt? A dump trailer like Thomas mentioned or 1 ton dump truck, something your loader will reach above for dumping into.
Dave.

Much more efficient to use a large articulated loader, scoop it up and run the short distance and dump it. One day or less with a 5 yd wheel loader.
If it take a full three minutes to move the dirt from one location to the other that is still 100 yds an hour. I would think 100 to 150 yds an hour would be in the ballpark.

Agreed - same here. It might not be as expensive as you think especially if you've got a guy who's going to work on your driveway and has the equipment. If you're planning on building on it, it's important to compact the lifts as they're layed down. Getting the site prep done as quickly as possible and allowing some additional time for setteling before starting the build would result in the most stable foundation and best job.

While you can pissant that amount of material it costs you time and fuel
you want to consider wear and tear on a small tractor also

I would think about a larger loader if it's possible

The only use of a box scraper in this situation would be to smooth up your haul road...to suggest it for conveying dirt in this situation is a dumb idea

Too bad you don't have access to a small scraper like a cat 613 or 623
Or J.D. 860 or similar would be the ticket for this type of work

If he dug out his basement 5' deep, I get 237 yds. ( 30x42x5 / 27)

I gave him 2' of work room around the outside for forms and enough depth (9') to be generous in the estimate. That would hold an 8' poured wall and footer. Just a worst case (most dirt) estimate.
Dave.

Thats alot of dirt to move, more then you may think. Something that comes to mind if its been sitting all winter or any lengh of time it has compacted and will be hard to get you bucket into. Not sure what kind of break out power you tractor has.

if you have a 1 yard bucket you will not be getting 1 yard into it more like .5 - .75 yards per bucket. its going to take a long time just to load a truck. to make it easy 1 yard per bucket X 1000 = X 1 minute per bucket full, from pile to truck. What you need to do is find someone with a large wheel loader with a 3-5 yard bucket. may not be as much as you think. delivery may get pricey.

Back blade will take a long time. when i get a 8 yard load of dirt i level it out with my 6 foot back blade takes me 15 minutes and thats not draging it 50 - 70 yards first.

I dont know where you live but i have a 10 yard truck for hire and im cheep.

You can still keep your project in house and cheap. Build a low wooden sled that can hold a couple of cubic yds. Break ground with BB,load sled with FEL,drag sled, dump wooden sled by hooking it with your bucket. Drag sled back to your site and do it again. You could cut your trips more than half with a sled. By the way, this is all theory. Keep us posted and good luck.
