I reciently had the pleasure to buy and assemble this piece of engineering wonder.

4' x 8' Utility Trailer - 1720 Lb. Capacity

I had one years ago so had a goo idea how to assemble it.But the directions are sure lacking. Alot of things they assume people will know about. Like the way a nylon locking nut goes on, which way the bolt goes in so it doesnt interfere, etc.
I got to thinking how it would be good if a company would allow the customers to also make a set of 'real life' directions. And how benificial it would be to the customer and also the merchant.
I realize alot of Harbor freight things need extra. I will be welding some on this unit also.
Ive found the U tube videos people have made with many products useful.Perhaps I should have made one of those..
This isnt jsut this trailer also, seems most of things I get now dont explain in ''plain english'. An example is the shop manuals for some autos. They are should be written by people who actually do it. In that way the small 'tricks' could be passed on.
One comes to mind is a serpentine belt change I did. it has many steps and removal procedures just to get it out of the way so I coudl put in the new water pump. I used the breaker bar to release the tension on the idler as it said. but them wired the bar to the windshield wiper to hold it
then put int he pump and released it. alot easier than remal and then having to figure out how to put it back in.
Anyways just a thought. I know guys arent supposed to read directions..LOL

Helped a friend assemble one of those trailers. He still had parts left when the assembly was completed. No idea where they belong. Trailer is still being used with no problems to tow his Golf Kart to and from TX to TN.

Excellent idea. Like a Wikipedia of instructions.

Usually happens the other way for me, missing parts:)

Ever try putting a large swing set together?? After doing 2, I think selling them non-assembled, should be illegal:laughing:

I found that the 12 years it took to learn Mandarin Chinese has helped me fix and assemble any product in America, and I still get left over parts:laughing:

Check with Combustix for your missing parts.
He might have some of them in his extra parts.

RIGHT!!

Between all of us, we probably got enough left over parts for an erector set!!
