Probably a good point. Lots of choice out there with established camera companies. Gateways ad pops up every time I log on, and the price looks good for what they offer, but who knows who actually makes the camera?

The wife gets all kinds of mail order catalogs. I like to read the one from Herrington, which describes itself as the Enthusiast's Catalog. Rich boy's toys. They have a Leica D-Lux, 3.2 MP, 3x optical zoom, for only $829, but I think I'll shop around a little. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, after talking to many folks, considering my needs and the money, we ignored most peoples good advice and ordered the Minolta DiMage Z1 from a New York Camera Shop!(actually, New Jersey) on December 8th. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

FedX website says it shipped the 9th, and as of 7:49 this morning, it has left the ramp at the airport here in my homewtown! Goody! I should have it today. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Now I need to order some SD memory as it only comes with 16M.
