Digging with an SC2450

Can anyone who has used an SC2450 comment on the ability of the machine to dig a trench for a foundation 42 inches deep for a 30 foot square garage? I'm looking at buying a machine for yard work and landscaping and was wondering if the machine has the power to dig a trench like that in rocky New England soil? I would not be in a hurry so even if I can dig 1 side per day I am ok with it; If the SC2450 would not do it how about the larger machines? Thanks for your help.

Take your time an you will be fine. Three an a half feet is not to bad.

Not a SC2450 but a BX23TLB I dug trenches about 6 foot to replace drain tile that was root bound, real easy dig. Believe they are close in size and power?

Should be fine. Used one to dig a bunch of tile about 2.5 feet deep and worked great.

I have a Sc2450 you should not have any problems digging. I have clay soil and it gets real hard in the summer. They dig really good.

Thanks for the input everyone that makes me feel a lot better. I want to buy the 2450 so I can cut grass, dig, and use the snowblower in winter. I would rather the smaller machine but just want to make sure it has enough power for meaningful digging. Thanks!

You'll have no problems once you learn the technique. It lacks the power to just muscle through rocky soil, but with proper application of force, it looks like it's digging through butter. Where I live, a glacier deposited an enormous amount of sandstone and some granite mixed together with clay. It's VERY hard to dig, the SC2450 handles it fine.
