Digging a ditch

/ Digging a ditch #21
Slippy I just built a four car garage onto my house and I used it to check the level of the walls and to get the crusher dust level before I poured the slab. I have a sloped driveway going to the garage and as I pour the new driveway I can use it to help me keep the same slope. I have found though that if i can get by with it that it is a lot easier to use it at night that way i can see the laser beam right on the stick and not have to play with moving the detector up and down.

I think you mentioned a 3 point hitch scoop early on in this thread. Have you looked more at this option? While I would think a dirt pan such as a Hoelscher DB-4 or the Durabuilt DP-60 would be the fastest way to do the job you mention, but they are pricey and put a good pull on the tractor, but then so does a back blade when you are trying to move the dirt to a whole other area. The scoop gives you the ability to dig and haul without having to drag it all the way, which in my experience means I lose some along the way with virtually every drag.

The scoop holds 9 cubic feet or about 1/3 yard

Good idea, never thought about using it at night.
