Digger Attachment for light drainage work

Notwithstanding that the digger attachment is not approved for the Toolcat, has anyone used one? I want to cut a few drainage swales, which need to be less than a foot in depth, through soft soil. The digger seems like the right tool, and at that depth, should not be taxing on the TC. Any thoughts?

What about using the Markham Welding Grubber Bucket?

If you just push the Digger Attachment through the dirt without lifting dirt out, I can see how that would put a lot of stress on the attachment plate that the Toolcat setup, with the single point connection to the boom, may not be strong enough to take.

The grubber bucket looks very useful, and I'd like to get my hands on one. I like the idea of the digger, for its ability to maybe cut a more sculpted drainage area. Again, I only need to go a few inches down - less than a foot, max. (We are pretty flat here.)

I can imagine one would need to be careful using a digger, particularly if one were getting it down into the earth at all, and then turning the TC's wheels. I expect it would be easy to bend the boom, which would not be pretty. A grubber bucket would likely be much better for that, and would be a good thing to have.

i use the digger often on my 5600a and it works well. I use it to transplant trees and shrubs. ive transplanted 8' pine trees with a really good survival rate. its a great tool.

Check out the combo quickspade which attaches to a regular bucket and would easily dig a foot deep trench. www dot quickspades dot com is where I bought a forks mounted version but the combo works on a plain bucket as well. $140 for the forks version and about another hundred for the combo. Nice tool.
