Other than the gross and PTO horsepower differences, I don't see any other differences in the spec sheet. . . . Looks like they have the same engine, and only achieve the additional horses through revving the engine from 2,600 to 3,000 rpm. So part for part, they're essentially the same machines, except for a few model stickers. What am I missing here?

Based on my Owners Manual the one interesting difference is the RPM that the engine needs to run at to equal 1 hour of run time. Since the tachometer is mechanical the hour meter spins faster when the engine runs faster. I don't remember the exact number but I think the 2400 series is about 1800 RPM and the 2600 series is about 25% higher maybe 2300 RPM. At this speed the hour meter will run the same speed as a clock, faster RPM equals more hours put on in a shorter time.

I think I figured that if you ran either the 2400 or the 2600 series at Max RPM you would put about 1.3 hours on the hour meter for each clock hour you ran the tractor.

Not a big deal unless you ran your tractor enough to use up your warranty!
