differance between vermeer balers

/ differance between vermeer balers #11
I have been in the custom baling bussness starting in 1989 with a heston baler that you used a hyd lever to tie the bales. First new baler was a vermeer 605 K. From there things progressed and I went to two balers and at times rented a third with five employees. All the balers I bought were new. Some years I baled around ten to eleven thousand round bales a year. I have owned several balers over thoes years. Vermeer 605 K, 2-605 L's, 2- 605 XL's, 605 M, John Deere 535, 567, New Holland, 2- 688's, BR 780. and rented a used John Deere 568 and Vermeer 605 Super M. To Mr. Cowski I can tell you the difference. There is NO baler in compairison with a Deere to the Vermeer 605 M or super M baler. And as far as tying, no difference in the speed that you can tell and you have not had to back up with a baler for twenty years. Now if you want a rating, I have to put John Deere in 3rd. The New Holland and Vermeer will walk all over the Deere. Deere is not as heavy built as the other two and will not handle high HP trators if you try to put as much thru one at the same speed and amount of hay going in it. I would have to say that a Vermeer 605 Super M baler is the heaviest and fastes baler out there at the present.

thanks roundbalerboy for answering my original post.last summer i was rolling some 4x5 hay with a 2000 model 504l vermeer baler .i had very large windrow ,while trying to tie the hay the hay kept getting tangled in the string.the only way i could get it too tie was to backup.my 92 4x5 jd baler had no trouble.so on my farm a older john deere baler was faster. and you had to back up with a 11 year old vermeer baler.now mister larry what have you tore up on large john deere balers hooked to a high horsepower tractors? me and my cousin run 150 horse tractors to our 6x5 balers with no problems.he has a jd 568 and i have a old jd 535.my jd 535 has been baling a long time.the reason for my post was i was thinking about replacing my little jd baler with either a new vermeer rancher or a low bale 555.i do agree with mr larry on that a later model 605 will make the tightest bales.the jd 568 balers can be run with a smaller tractor than a vermeer 605 ,that is more important to me than the tightest bale. i too have had a new new holland 6x5 round baler on my farm.it was several years ago and i have forgotten the number.the next round baler i will buy will be either a john deere or vermeer.

what is the differance between vermeer's 5500 rebel,665 rancher and the 555xl?

another difference between the balers is the rancher starts the bale like the jd, the rebel and xl have the slack belt system to start the bale, that and like previously mentioned the twine tie is different also, besides the obvious bale sizes between the balers

To Mr Cowski. Back when the JD 535 was new it was no.1 to me and would out bale a vermeer 605L . The JD was not as heavy built but put out a perfect bale. Back then, mid 1990's, I ran 90-100 hp tractors. The JD 567 was a nightmare. Had a 140hp tractor in front of it. It would not bale any faster than the old 535 with out problems. Now the Vermeer 605 M baler had problems also. Bearing and roller failure and vermeer knew they would not hold up because the made a update kit to change it out to a 605 Super M that I had installed after mine failed. After I had it updated, I could put winrows in that baler that would not hardley go under the tractor and pulling it a gear or two faster. My last big year baling, I rented a JD568 and a vermeer 605 super M for two weeks each from the same dealer and I much prefered the 605 super m over the 568. The small balers, I can not tell you anything about them. I quit baling this year but still remember having three balers in one field, that was a pretty picture to me.

I just bought the Rebel 5410 the only thing I have run before was a NH dont recall the model number but I had to always jump out and trip it so it would tie and wouldnt start a bale very well but this new Rebel man its nice,I got the net wrap(sweet) I stayed up with my father raking all day. I cant say to much only ran 44bales threw it but I am really happy with it so far. rebel 5410.jpgvermeer monitor.JPGhaying3.JPG
