I have been in the custom baling bussness starting in 1989 with a heston baler that you used a hyd lever to tie the bales. First new baler was a vermeer 605 K. From there things progressed and I went to two balers and at times rented a third with five employees. All the balers I bought were new. Some years I baled around ten to eleven thousand round bales a year. I have owned several balers over thoes years. Vermeer 605 K, 2-605 L's, 2- 605 XL's, 605 M, John Deere 535, 567, New Holland, 2- 688's, BR 780. and rented a used John Deere 568 and Vermeer 605 Super M. To Mr. Cowski I can tell you the difference. There is NO baler in compairison with a Deere to the Vermeer 605 M or super M baler. And as far as tying, no difference in the speed that you can tell and you have not had to back up with a baler for twenty years. Now if you want a rating, I have to put John Deere in 3rd. The New Holland and Vermeer will walk all over the Deere. Deere is not as heavy built as the other two and will not handle high HP trators if you try to put as much thru one at the same speed and amount of hay going in it. I would have to say that a Vermeer 605 Super M baler is the heaviest and fastes baler out there at the present.
