Is it okay to put this diesel fuel tank inside this equipment barn? Are there issues with it being enclosed? I have an overhead garage door with electric opener. There are no animals in there, I no longer keep hay there, just tractor, and truck, and Mule. I prefer to have it inside for security reasons.

Up here, folks store heating oil in tanks in the cellar, properly vented. Looks like your space is ventilated.

Heck no! theres nothing wrong with that. I have 2 tanks each 275 gallon inside of buildings. Inside means peace of mind, out-of-sight and out of other peoples thoughts. I control who gets what that way. Even though the pumps are keyed it easy to forget to lock um up at night, now your donating fuel to someone else. Door closed and locked make good neighbors even though mine are all family. If you ask i'll probably give ya some, you take without askin, ya just might get shot!

keep mine inside, don't like having in the weather, also don't feel like helping thieves.

Right. I have two 275gal tanks in my basement. They are piped with fill tubes and vent tubes going outside, but I think that's mostly for fill-up convenience - besides being living space and all. With a tank in a barn/garage, I wouldn't bother with any extra piping, provided the fill truck could get inside to fill it up.

Have done it for decades. Have a vented cap on it and fuel always looks clean and fresh.
In fact, mine is a 150 gallon tank I mounted on wheels. Never really gets in the way or I move it.

Mine is outside, but would be OK inside. Just remember if you spill the mess is inside. My vehicles are always on the concrete when filling so if I spill it can be cleaned up.

I'd also suggest some sort of dessicant breather/filter for the air side. Keep the moisture and the bugs out.

.

Having a fiear of fire, I always fill outside. I keep the tank (150gal on wheels) by the door or roll it near the ouside edge and run the hose out the door. No spill inside and no risk of fire in the barn from filling errors.
