Diesel question for the Uneducated

I just purchased a John Deere 455 for my grandmother to use, and I was wondering should I just use normal on road diesel, or should I try to find off road diesel, or should I use K-1? Thanks, any help would be appriciated

You can use either on road or off road diesel in that mower. Only real difference is red dye in the off road diesel and a little cheaper. K-1 would work but I tend to stay with the regular diesel fuel. 455's are nice mowers.

Use #2 diesel in the summer and winterized #2 in the winter. You can use K-1 but it is much more expensive

No more than a tractor uses, it is not worth the time to chase down off-road fuel. If it's handy, by all means use it--you'll save about 40 cents per gallon.
