Another unpopular viewpoint is that the lower prices will hurt the economy in my area. Here in the area along Interstate 10 between Houston and New Orleans, we have been blessed with a robust economy for many years because of our oil production both inland and out in the Gulf of Mexico. With oil prices going so low, a lot of the oil drilling and production will slow down and people will get laid off.
By the way, I paid $2.89 for diesel today in a small town just outside of Baton Rouge.
That and the tax base will take a hit. No free lunch as they say.
