Diesel prices in your area?

Another unpopular viewpoint is that the lower prices will hurt the economy in my area. Here in the area along Interstate 10 between Houston and New Orleans, we have been blessed with a robust economy for many years because of our oil production both inland and out in the Gulf of Mexico. With oil prices going so low, a lot of the oil drilling and production will slow down and people will get laid off.

By the way, I paid $2.89 for diesel today in a small town just outside of Baton Rouge.

That and the tax base will take a hit. No free lunch as they say.

Off road was listed at $3.15 just up the road, which means that it would be cheaper elsewhere if you can find it. Baltimore County, Maryland.

Paid $3.25 for off-road here in Kansas near Kansas City area. Still to high considering diesel is the by-product of gasoline production.
At least it is getting lower.

The tax base will not take a hit due to lower gas prices. Just which fund gets the money. Lower energy cost frees up disposable income and gets spent on other things. Also, more people will use more gas as prices go down. I know people who have left their boats in the slip due to high fuel cost.
Lower cost save all of use on cost of just about everything. Trucks and trains deliver most everything we touch.
Lower cost will help get the economy moving.
Having worked in the oil and gas industry(if you remember Kerr McGee) we made good money when oil was at $46. Since 2005 O&G companies have been drilling thousands of well to increase production.
As we produce more, more will be exported and less imported. Win-Win for the USA.
