We Canadians just pay lots of tax on everything. Diesel is $1.05 a liter which comes to approximately $3.75 a US gallon.

No you don't - we British pay LOTS of tax - £1.26 per litre = $7.18 a US Gallon - possibly the most expensive in Europe.

You Canadians are just not quite as lucky as those South / West of the border.

If only it were just healthcare to be funded . . apparently the new administration is looking to Canada for inspiration on how to slash the borrowings - they did something similar in the 90s - which may be why their diesel is that bit more still?
