I am new to diesel engines and I started using Power Service in my new tractor. Do I still need to use a stabilizer in the fuel like I do for my gasoline engines that the fuel doesn't get used frequently enough?

Diesel does not go stale nearly as fast as gasoline (especially gas with ethanol) so an additive for letting the diesel sit for a while is not that important but using an additive to make up for the lesser lubricity of ULSD is important.

Do a search, you'll see plenty of talk about it. Just don't let Reg know your using an additive, he might tell you to purchase an extra carbon footprint offset...

I run Power Service in all my diesel engines all year round. To each his own...

Use Marvel Mystery Oil in gas and diesel, then I don't have to worry about having a bunch of different bottles of stuff lying around.

Technically you should not use the standard Mystery Oil in Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel which is why they make a Diesel Fuel supplement.

That is why they say this about the standard stuff: Note for Diesel Fuel Users - This diesel fuel additive does not comply with federal low sulfur content requirements for use in model 2007 and newer diesel motor vehicles.

So you still have two different additives to keep track of and a whole two bottles of stuff lying around.

Thanks for the heads up, I've been using it for years now never had a problem. Why/what is the "federal requirements" about? Is using the regular MMO going to cause harm or is the company/higher powers just trying to make more money off of petroleum products? Just curious as to what the major differences may or may not be??????
