Upstate SC has been getting pretty steady drizzle/mist for about 48 hours now. Had only an hour total of anything considered "rain". But I'll take it.:)

It has poured here the last two day's, you know, those two days of vacation I took to do the vinyl soffit's and Eaves on the houses where I brought the guy up from Chattanooga.. :D Heck though, if that is what it takes to get this rain, I would have done it sooner. :)

That said, there is water flowing across my basement floor :( My ponds have disapeared as the whole area is flooded, and my bobcat is sitting in about 4" of water (on Jackstands) and the rear wire harness is sitting on my bench in the shop and the wheels are in the tire shop so I cannot move it...

Now they are saying it will rain all week.

yes, yes yes!! :D Last night I checked the rain gauge and so far my farm has gotten 2.1". Its still raining this AM and I know it rained over night. :D There was even water in the ditches and puddles all around!!! :D Happy, happy!!!! :D

:D I thought I got all the gutters cleaned up but its seems not to be the case. So...I was cleaning gutters between showers. Thats OK thought...no complaints here. :D

ETA: Wow, you guys in KY hit the jackpot!

I disked and broadcasted rye grass a few weeks ago for the animals this winter. It sat there with no moisture until it rained last Thur. an Fri. We got 3.5" of slow drizzle. The rye grass is coming up now and it's a good stand.

We need more. It's been drizzling here again yesterday and this morning, hope to get more later.

We where watching TV at about 8:00 last night and I heard a strange noise. Do you hear that I asked the wifey? She said what is that noise?

I said, It sounds like rain!

Opened the door and it was pouring outside!! :D:D:D:D

It stopped a few minutes later.

Check radar and there as a solid red band of rain to our west. Usually it would be here in an hour tops. Took the dogs outside an hour later and I could see the lightning of to the west. Sounded like it was only a few miles away. It never made it to us.....

Checked radar this morning and it looks like th house is getting some rain. Supposed to get two inches over the next day or so. We need the rain badly. Well drillers are very busy especially on sites with shallow wells. And article in the paper said one guy went down 700 feet to get water which is deep for around here. He is farther south than us but our well is a little over 200 feet deep.

The lake is the lowest I have ever seen but it was lowest in 1986.

Come on rain!

Later,
Dan

We're about as far NW as you can get in KY -

We've received something like 6" of rain since this monday & it's still drizzling today. We're glad for it as there's been little to no rain all summer. Also glad as the orchard grass I drilled into my pastures 2 weeks ago needed some moisture. I looked over the fields yesterday & have 1/2" to 1" of new growth sticking out of the ground!!!

6" + here since Monday afternoon, still raining, more predicted over the next 3-4 days. Way too much at once even though we were bone dry. If cold weather settles in before all this drains adequately we end up (as we do all too often) with a squishy, muddy winter, with the ground never, or seldom, getting good and firm. That ends up severly limiting what can be accomplished outside in winter.

Here in the big town of Borden (Home of Elsie the cow) SC we have had about 327 drops, I was lucky enough to be hit by 7 of them and it felt good. The weather people here say that we are 19" short for the year. But they said that today we will have a chance of 1-2" in some places. Don't remember seeing any part of some here.
But am very glad that we don't have California'a problem. Those people are in our thoughts and prayers.

In Dubois, IN, about 10 minutes from Patoka Resevoir we've gotten about 1.7" from this system. My grandpa in Tell City, about an hour south of here right on the Ohio River, has gotten 4.2". It's been great, but we need more!

here in central/sw VA we have only been getting about 1" every 3 to 4 weeks for most of the summer.. As of about 15 minutes ago we have received over 1.5" since late afternoon... And hopefully we will get more over the next few days.

We had a slight rain after lunch that didnt last long and i took advantage of the wetness to aerate the yard so I could get some seed down.. The yard was still pretty hard so barely got 1" plugs out of it with a light duty tow behind aerator even with about 150# on it.... But I did get about 75# of grass seed down before the heavier rains that are going on now.. I hope I get some green sprouts coming up by next week.. LOL
