Looking for some suitcase weights that will actually fit onto the front bracket of my S-373 Beaver III. Did Satoh offer such an option, or will I need to go on a scavenger hunt? Vvm.

Not shure, but they probably did offer them but since there are no longer any dealers for Sotah (Mitsubishi) a scavanger hunt will be necessary.
Do some searches as many TBN members have made some very creative weights.
If you were to locate some, shipping would really hurt.

Those suitcase weights are not cheap I have 4 on the front of my 372. But I have seen them on Craigslist already so they are around just have to locate them.

By any chance, could you post a photo of your weights? Maybe they are the same as used on some other tractors......?

Go to a scrap metal recycling center. I go to cherry city metals in salem oregon. They usually keep around the usable cool stuff to sell at a higher than scrap but still low price. Otherwise spring steel seems heavier than mild steel. You could get some used leafs (random would be cheapest) and cut them to length, weld them and bolt them to the front.

I have a round wheel weight bolted on the front of the Buck with a homemade front hitch too.

Thanks for everyone's replies. Good fortune came and brought 3 Ford cast iron weights from a 1600 subcompact tractor. Each weighs 32#, so total of 96#. They look like they could have been original equipment, as they fit nicely onto the 9.5" wide front bracket. Each weight is 3" wide. The three weights are enough to counter a 42" tandem disc, 5' landscape rake, 4' rear blade, and single row JD 71 planter unit I have for the tractor. I don't want to overload the front end too much , as I don't know how much it can take before the excess weight starts to do some damage to front axle components when there isn't a rear mounted implement to counter the front weight. vvm

My beaver has 3 solid bars of steel mounted to a bracket. It appears to be some sort of after market setup as it has pinch bolts to secure it. Works great to keep the front on the ground and to be able to steer.
