All of you have helped me feel better about my decision. I went to the dealer today and changed my order for R4 tires for an additional $511.00. I wanted a L3010 to GST but one is not available in the southeast. I believe the L3000DT will work jst fine because I will not know what I'm missing. It should be here by Friday. I 'm in tractor heaven waiting for Friday. I will post the deliverly info when it arrives. Is this normal a normal high or what?
What give's. A man and his machine. My wife calls it a Very large expensive toy. It really is!
Thanks to all of you............

I'm still riding the wave /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif being excited about the tractor. Maybe it's because I can use it to get so much done - it has made that seemingly overwhelming job of getting new property into shape to live on much more manageable. Confidence grows as we continue to see the changes we are making. As an example, it took an afternoon's worth of rookie FEL and BB work to get a secondary steel culvert installed and buried - my neighbor did the same task with shovel and it took him almost 3 weeks.
I can see that the comments for the convenience for HST are right on after some hours shifting gears, but that is meant as an observation, not a complaint. I like the 3000DT just fine and enjoy every minute of tractor seat time.

It's here! I took deliverly of the L3000DT today at 2:30pm. The tractor came in and I went to the my dealer and help assemble it. I came home with it and took 30 min to hook up my box blade (5 ft). I now have it adjusted right so hook up with be a breeze. Lining up with implements with a manual gear tractor is not as easy as with a hydro. I went from a Ford 6000 that out weights my Kubota by 3500 lbs. I have have one hour in the seat and am learning how use it. The 4 wd is a must because tire spin is an issue. This is a great machine and it will take time to relearn with a much smaller unit. I opted for the R4's and I am glad because the Turf's I wanted would not have help up in the rough areas. Just wanted to post my first impressions. No scratches as of yet and I hope not to. I will be loadeing the tires soone to help with wheel spin while using the box blade. It's here and it is orange!
Thanks for all the info!!!!!!!!!

John,

Congratulations on your new L3000. You will have many happy hours, no doubt soon clearing all those pine trees.

You're choice of the R4's was a good one for the type of work you will do. They will stand up better in the long run with stumps and rocks.

I noticed you didn't go with the FEL yet.. With all those trees it sounds like that should not be too far off. Post some pics when you can.

Carl

The picture is from north Alabama, around Tuscalossa, AL (close to Birmingham). A friend living in there took this shot close to his house. They where burning off property. Great shot!

Wow that is a great shot! My better half is a photo-lab manager and custom framer. Man would she like to get a copy.

As far as your L3000DT I have owned mine for about 3 months. I had to have an fel and every other attachment known to man so it was the only model the budget would allow. Shes a no frills, plain Jane tractor but I have worked her like a rented mule with zero problems.

In case you hav'nt noticed the right fender is a great place for a tool box. I used the existing hole in the fender and vel-cro to mount a plastic tool box and then mounted a swivel cup holder to the front of the tool box. Works great and no drilling holes in your new baby.

Good luck with your new tractor!
