DeWalt Cordless fans alert - Fence Stapler

For those who already have the charger and batteries, just the tool costs $600.

For $600 I’ll pound staples. Only a couple of sacks with a framing hammer

Then you have to run a long air hose, or have a gas powered compressor that cost more than the Dewalt. My elbow tells me to buy the Dewalt, every time I swing the framing hammer on a staple.

I already own a small Honda generator and a small air compressor, so for me, it would make a lot of sense buying an pneumatic staple gun if it was reliable. I'm more then just a tool snob, so buying a brand that I have never heard of before would be very difficult for me. My goal is to fence in all of my 68 acres, and that's going to be a lot of hammering in staples if I don't get a gun that can shoot barbed staples.

Link to staples;

Featuring divergent point tips, single barb legs paired with an adhesive coating, a galvanized zinc-aluminum coating, and are available in three common sizes of 1-1/2", 1-3/4", 2" to handle a wide variety of rural applications.

The link took me to another link, that took me to Home Depot, where it shows that they carry the barbed staples in stock at the store. That surprised me. Now I'm going to have to look at what they sell that uses those staples in the store.

$80 for 960 staples seems a bit expensive, but if I can avoid hammering in staples, I'll happily pay that amount for them!!!

I have been thinking about those pneumatic guns for awhile. The price has come down on them a lot. But then I saw this battery gun. I plan on getting a T-Post driver like a Man Saver and I already have the generator and compressor. But if the price ever comes down on the battery nail gun I’d probably get one, especially if it’s a Milwaukee since I already have the charger and batteries for M18.

Doing it yourself you want to make it as easy on yourself as possible but even if you are in the fence business speeding up the process and using fewer workers because of better equipment is more productive.

Used to be, at work, we used air for everything. Air hoses everywhere. Nowadays, there are hardly any hoses running around the aircraft. You can't beat the mobility cordless gives you.

I also have a portable generator and air compressor, but then you haul all that around and hook it up and unhook it and them move it again, depending upon the length of your air hose.

I just got that fence stapler before the outbreak. I paid around $350 for the gun bare tool on eBay from a seller called hums hardware or something like that. And 2 boxes of staples and other dewalt stuff form Murdochs farm and ranch when they had a half off Dewalt sale at the same time. Murdoch was sold out of the stapler or I would have got it there. I was just looking for some wire to replace a broken strand but all I have is partial rolls so I have not used it yet. Also I do have other Dewalt 20 volts tools and batteries.

The staples have one barb on each side and are coated on the ends with paper holding them together.

I got this because I am ok for awhile hammering but as I get hot and tired I start hitting my fingers more and the staples start getting crooked.

On another note I recently got the Dewalt tire inflator and love it! You screw it on, set the psi, hit the button and it inflates and shuts off when done. I just need rear air bag helper springs for my truck now. I use a website slickdeals.net to find deals and sales. Just look it over while drinking my coffee most mournings. I click on forums then hot deals from the main page to find up to the minute deals. It is just other people reporting great deals when they find them.

I have a lot of fencing to do and the DeWalt would be handy but unfortunately not available here.

I wonder how it would do when nailing into hardwoods like oak? Would it nail tight with the 1 1/2" staples for 1000 staples?

I guess one barb on each side is better then being smooth. You got a decent price too. Please post an update when you use it, I'm very curious.
