Good morning everyone! My name is Sumner
A little backstory: I have my grandfathers early 1970's Deutz D30-06 2cyl tractor. I am extremely fond of it as it was the tractor I would ride on as a child at his SC farm. After his passing my father inherited all tractors including the Deutz. After several years of the tractor sitting my father let me take ownership. Since then I have replace the bent and rusted hood with a nicer one, installed LED lights to night work, cleaned up the wiring harness, had it serviced by a Deutz Mechanic (no longer in business). It use to smoke horribly (i believe from the little use and never fully warming up) to now it smokes when cold but mostly clears up now since I run a Lucas oil additive for old engines and quality oil.
My concern is since I have had it (2 years) It has not been serviced; that was done right before I got it. Im not concerned about oil and hydraulic services but I am concerned about fuel filter. It is a horizontal orientation which I have no experience with. Has anyone here had any experience with a a F2L912 engine? If so I would be grateful on how to properly change and prime the fuel system. If there is any trick and tips.
I really love this machine and would love to pass it on to my son one day!
Thank you for any advice and opinions!
