Today my Mitsubishi fd1550 suddenly started running rough and smoking out the exhaust excessively. I shut it off after about 30 seconds of this happening. I let it cool for a couple minutes and then pulled the oil dipstick to check. To my surprise oil came shooting out the dipstick hole with a lot of pressure behind it. The gas tank also was under a lot of pressure . Does anyone have an idea of what might be happening or a way to diagnose the problem? Thank you Bill

Injection pump needs overhaul/resealed. It is pressurizing the crankcase with fuel.

Is there any instruction available on how to rebuild the pump ? Thank you

This is not something a home shop should be attempting. Take it to a professional injection pump repair facility, not a dealer as they just sell you a new pump, and have it rebuilt and tested. Likely it is just a seal on the end where it connects to the gear drive off the engine, put an injection pump repair shop can replace the seal and any other items that may be worn at likely half or less than the cost of a new pump. NEW PUMPS are usually rebuilt pumps also.

Could a bad injector fill the oil case and pressure. How does my fuel tank being under pressure happen?

A bad injector certainly could fill the crankcase by flooding a cylinder and fuel leading past the rings but it won't pressurize the crankcase or fuel tank. Is usually obvious when an injector fails in the manner you mentioned as you will likely produce abnormal amounts of black fuel smoke or have a dead cylinder. The injector pump is still building pressure, it simply isn't directing the pressure where it should be due to leaking seals or worn plunger/plunger barrel.

The smoke was a gray white in color. It wasn't black. Does this mean something else could have gone wrong in addition to the injector/pump issue?

That's simply burning engine oil because the crankcase was overflowing. I'd take a close look at the injection pump as the issue here.

Where can I buy a service / parts manual for this tractor?

Ok I have figured out what was going on with the crank case oil. Turns out that it's not the fuel system at all but rather the hydraulic system. The seal on the hydraulic pump blew forward. The seal on the hydraulic pump blew forward and let the pressurized hydraulic oil into the crank case. I replaced the seal and within 15 minutes the same thing happened again. I guess the hydraulic oil pressure is getting to high and pushing the seal forward. Has anyone had this problem before and what was the solution?
