Deoxidizing, Polishing and Waxing JD 5200

Here's a few of photos of the 5200 being all cleaned up for once in over 15 years. Hope you guys enjoy.

I used Meguiar's DA Power System with Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Wax. I used the compound 1 time on all the body parts. Then polished 2-3 times, fenders only 1. Then finished up with wax doing 2 layers on the hood and panels and fenders one time. Before this I power washed with a 3200PSI Cold Water, then I used shop towels rubbing the surface (lots of elbow grease) to remove water spots, oxidation to make it easier with when using Ultimate Compound. Possibly will do the canopy in the winter. For now, its good enough for me.

Looks nice! Peanut butter works good to bring the black back to oxidized black plastic parts. Apparently it is the oil in the peanut butter.

Thanks, the peanut butter will be a mess to clean up though!

Just a dab on a clean rag. Rub it in real good and then wipe off.

I should post current pictures of the 2030. I am considering pressure washing it, but NO wax! I have protective coat of oil/dirt.

Hi, Zebrafive. Mine has the dirt coating too, but I am thinking of making him all purdy again, this fall. Should be the last time I need to do that for another 25 years, or more! He is rugged and sexy. What more would I want?

Although i'm a big fan of Meguires products especially for paint, there is one for black plastic from Mothers (Back to Black) that does a good job on old faded black plastic
