Hey Rocky, that was the same spot my leak was at. Chris said that his leak went on down the gas tank and on to the ground. Your describing the exact spot my leak was at, dripping down the braided hose that goes to the injection pump, accross and then goes up behind and to the left of the fuel filter. The fuel would leak onto the starter. I am not sure what the cause was, but I tightened the clamp on the hose as it enters the injection pump and that seemed to slow the leak down some. Seeing as it is a brand new tractor, and I couldnt reach the other clamp that is behind the fuel filter, I let the dealer take care of it. I get it back today and the problem should be solved. Hopefully this problem is due to the settling in of the tractor and tightening up the clamps will solve the issue.

I tightened that hose clamp too, and it didn't help. So I disconnected the line and routed it on the outside of the filter so I could see better, and the leak is originating about 3 inches up from the hose clamp.
A tech stopped by yesterday to see which hose it is so they can order the right one and he said they can do the job without taking the tractor in.

Got the tractor up to 21 hours and no more signs of any leaking. I have even bought a post hole digger to pass the time while I am waiting for the grapple to come back in.

I keep forgetting to ask my dealer the specific cause to the leak. I am writing a note to call him tomorrow and finally get that posted. I am curious to know now that others are having similar problems. Especially you Rocky, because you have the same model tractor.

I wish I would have taken a picture of the leak before and after. I got the tractor back from the dealer yesterday and gave it a little workout. So far, no leaks and it looks like they replaced the whole braided cable that had the leak. I could be wrong, but the cable looks like it is smaller in diameter. Me and the Dealer really arent talking anymore, or I would just ask him. Interesting to hear what the dealer tells Chris and if this is a common issue.

Ok...still leaking, dealers not worth a @&$). When the tractors running, I can see it seeping down the braided cable behind and to the right of the fuel filter. Anyone have experience with these braided fuel lines? Is it possible there's a rupture or, what I'm thinking, the clamp just needs to be tightened? I'd call the dealer but I don't want to be without the tractor for another week or two. Let's see, PTO wouldn't work (blown relay), diesel leak, parking light not working, rear brake light out, about 3 inches of play on the brake (when parking brake is engaged, the tractor still moves)... sure glad I bought a brand new tractor. I would have hated to buy used and inherit someone else's problems.

Blamo,

If your still under a warranty, I'd make a call to the dealer and tell them to bring parts and fix your tractor on site due to the same problem and it was not resolved. Also get a hold of the regional Mahindra manager and let this person know of your issue. My dealer is over 200 miles away and they sent a mechanic out to fix a hydraulic leak that was not corrected the first time. I still buy all my filters and implements from him. To bad you do not have this type of dealership to work with. Also the owner/dealer came out after the delivery and checked to see how everything was going with the new tractor.

Yup, thats what I plan on doing but I'd like to see if anyone has any input about how hard a fix it is. If Chris says that all it took to fix was a couple of turns on a clamp, I'll do that. However, if the dealer tells Chris that they had to replace some hoses, I will make the dealer take care of it. My problem is that in order to tighten that clamp, I will have to take off the fuel filter. I dont want to go thru all of that if it wont work. Thanks for the advise.

Ok, all set. I was able to take off the fuel filter from the brackets in order to get to the clamp behind it. So far so good...no leaks.

21 hours already? Chris, are you commuting to work in that thing?

Our dealer didn't have the hose in stock (new Mahindra dealer) so they put one on order, but they found out that it is on a national backorder. They pulled the line off a tractor in their lot so we could get our tractor back up and running (they sent a tech out to install the new line, no need to haul it back). On ours, the rubber part was definitely ruptured (the braided part is actually just a sheathing). This hose goes up to the fuel return line where it's crimped onto a metal tube.

Ok. Sorry its been a while. Been busy at work :(. I did talk wiith my dealer and he said it was pretty much the same thing. It's the same hose. Mine wasn't ruptured, just loose at that metal fiitting. He said it was almost like it wasn't seated properly initially. He couldn't recall the exact repair, and the mechanic that fixed it was off. I have to go back down and settle up from my third function hydraulic install ( which they wired backwards... ) So if the mechaninc is down there when I stop by I will finalize this report.

Seems this leak may just be a manufacture issue??? Any other dealers chime in on this :2cents:? You guys fix any of this type of fuel leak in the 35 series?

Our 4035 was trucked off to the shop today. Blew another (different) fuel line. This one is longer and runs from the tank up to the engine. Also started leaking hydraulic oil onto the platform, seems to be running down from somewhere on the steering column.

Rocky, any word on that fuel line? I had a chat with my dealer. Now I have a new issue. My PST lever won't shift smoothly. Sometimes from forward to reverse it feels like I am going to rip the **** thing right off. I asked him if there is a grease point somewhere in it our if it's directly related to hydraulic fluid levels... He said he had to call Mahindra. That was last week. Still no answer. He initially tried to tel me that I had to slow the engine down to idle speed each time before throwing the PST lever. I was a little shocked. In his defense he sells a little of everything, doesn't just concentrate on his tractor line. So, once again, any one have any input here? This probably should have been in a new thread. Look forward to everyone's responses. Thanks!

We got it back on Tuesday. It came back with all new fuel and hydraulic lines. We haven't had any trouble with the PST lever.

Chris,

There is a detent ball for the PST handle that needs a little lube. You can pull the rubber grommet from around the handle and shoot a little PB Blaster on the ball and spring under the dash. That took care of the problem on the one I was having problems with.

Dave,

Thanks for the advice. I am going to strip down the plastics from around the steering column tomorrow and lube everything that looks at me funny! What kind of problems were you having with your PST handle? I will let you know how it works out.

/ Delivery is Bitter Sweet #38
The handle pretty much locked up so I did the strip down and unhooked the cable to see if the cable could be seized, but it worked fine. Took the detent ball and spring apart and it was a little rusty. Cleaned it up and sprayed it and worked fine, that's why I suggested spraying it before all the disassembly if you can locate it through the opening. I've sold 5 PS's and only had the one with the problem @ about 30 hours on the meter.

Thanks, that detailed explanation is great. Didn't get to strip it down today. Opted to go to camp and jump in the pond instead (it got a little hot). I am going to buy a can of pb blaster tomorrow and spray it up from the opening in the plastic first as you originally suggested. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again Dave.

Oh yeah, it all started with about 25 or 26 hours. I am at 32 now and I am not moving it until I spray the lever. It's way too frustrating.
